Since I attended my first game as an 11 year old on December 3rd 1983, the boys in blue on the pitch have been my heroes.(The BOD are a different matter)
But, as a 43 year old now, I have never, ever, been more proud, humbled and in awe of our boys in blue than I am tonight, following their offer of help to the flood victims.
A beautiful gesture showing compassion, humility and class from a group of players already making themselves into legends in this fine city.
There are a lot of people out there desperately needing help, strength, and a boost at this time.
First class lads. First class.

Totally agree Musher.

Even just the knowledge that the lads are willing to help is a boost.

A true community spirit when desperately needed. I'm sure the good people and businesses of cumbria will all pull together to help.

Proud to be a cumbrian.

Agree totally this offer coming from the players is above and beyond the call of duty.
Curle really has put together a team that will give their all both for the team and the City. Respect.

They were gradually getting it back, the players. Over a number of seasons the respect and love of the players from the supporters has been ebbing away. I've often talked about a disconnect between fans and the club, and that has included the players at times. This season they seem to have made significant strides in getting supporters back with them, their acknowledgement of the support they receive has been fantastic. The fact that they mention the support at every opportunity is brilliant as well. I suppose Curle has a great deal to do with it, he is the manager after all, but there are players here now who genuinely seem to care about the fans, and that is fantastic to see.

This is a marvelous gesture by the players, and to be honest, every little bit of help is going to be appreciated. Fair play to them, I imagine some of their cars will have been at the club, some of them will have had possessions in the club and in the club house. So to put the people of the city before themselves is fantastic and they deserve our thanks and best wishes.

This is a fantastic gesture that really sums up the group of staff that we have at the club, full credit to KC, he is the leader and sets the tone for others to follow. Its been a long time since we had a manager and a group of players who we can be proud of.

Having spent all morning helping a friend clean out his house it's pretty devastating emotionally and physically! This is a terrible time for all affected as in the end luckily I wasn't but watching the emergency services pull together, neighbours, family and friends devote time to helping loved ones and in some cases strangers I am truly humbled. Having said all that nothing raised a smile quite like hearing Carlisle United players are willing to devote their time and efforts to the cause! If nothing else I will never again doubt their passion and commitment to the City and it's fans and residents! Superb gesture which makes me incredibly proud to be a blue! Thanks very much and stay safe everyone we've recovered once we'll recover again!

Great gesture by the players... in a time when players are accused of not caring and only being in the game for the money, I think this proves that Curle has recruited some decent characters. Credit to him for that.

A fantastic gesture by the players and staff at our club, its been a long time since we had a management team and playing staff who are a good advert for the club. Great credit to Keith Curle, as the leader he sets the tone and so far so good.
Edit - Apologies I didn't think my first one had posted,

After Curle's brutal training session they'll be no use to anyone.

Can see the headline now "Blues player suffers freak injury helping flood victim".

Seriously, fantastic gesture from the players. Any chance we can get Nixon or Jenkins up to their neck in someone's drain?

Perhaps we could use some of Pioneers bone-dry, sawdust pies to help soak up the flood water?

People have mentioned playing a pre season friendly against Welling as a thankyou for their support.

Why not arrange a friendly at Brunton Park when it's back on it's feet and donate the gate to the flood victims.
We could probably get a top side to come to play as well, without them charging us to do so, as all the proceeds would go to the flood victims.

Certainly come a long way since the low point of the infamous 6 drinkers incident with Potts and co last Christmas, wonder if any press will pick up on that. Well done the club and players.

Some good stuff with the players, an excellent contribution on Radio 5 Live yesterday evening from Mark Gillespie, Dicker and Grainger this morning talking about it too. This is exactly the sort of thing we would want the players to do, absolutely top class from them.

A brilliant gesture from the lads, unfortunately my house was over 2 foot under water on Sunday morning as well as a lot of my friends. but the main thing is me and my family are safe. We have a house to move into tomorrow and are very fortunate to have good family and friends, unlike the poor old lady we had to console today who has no-one.
Once again the people of Cumbria have shown great resilience, the amount of goodwill gestures from strangers is heartwarming. We have an area to be proud of.
Be just and fear not.

You are in the same position as my sister and her family. They live near the rugby club and got back in today to begin the clear out.

The one thing that is certain is that the people of Carlisle and Cumbria will come back stronger.

Thanks to the fabulous gesture of the players and staff at Carlisle United. It is truly appreciated by the people who need their help

The photos from the official site show the lads getting stuck into the work. I must admit I was a bit worried it might all be a photo opportunity and a bit of posturing but im delighted that the lads genuinely want to help and then followed through.

I'm sure it was a boost and a diversion for those directly affected.

Aye bad times, thigh high in my house, it receded quite quickly which was a plus, I count myself very lucky compared to others. It was a weird one watching it happen live from a hotel in Welling, hopes raised then dashed, in the end I got the call saying it had crept in, nothing I could really do then but knock a pint down and try and get my head down.

Welling officials raised my spirits massively as we entered the ground with their donation, as did all the stories filtering through from Cumbria about everyone helping each other.

The offers I have had off people from the area has been unbelievable, people I have literally known for weeks or have said hello to once, have offered vans, rooms, their time, its massively appreciated.

As I said in my column yesterday, I have been in tears a few times but that is due to being overwhelmed by the support.

Moving here was a decision that has been proved 100% was the right thing to do.

THANK YOU
