The purpose of a discussion board is to discuss things. If your mind is so narrow and closed that you can't tolerate anyone's opinion other than your own, then a discussion board is not the place for you. Why don't you take a permanent holiday? On the subject of Brennan it doesn't do anyone any favours that he is injured again. Even if the aim is to get rid of him, that's now been scuppered. It must be very frustrating for him, he was a very talented player, sadly that all seems to be behind him now.

Actually, PP is very much a Carlisle United fan albeit from a distance now. I think I'm right in saying that he still has a Season Ticket even though he has no chance of attending a match. Whenever I have met him I've found him to be a pleasant individual (as most of us are). His online persona, however, is one that many others struggle with - but he does enliven this messageboard! This time though he's gone too far but I suspect he knows that now...

I have empathy for Dickenson, just not any sympathy. My prime interest is what's best for the football club, and as explained - not having a player of Dickenson's calibre in the team is fantastic news.

He has a sporting injury, not a life threatening or serious illness. He'll be in a little bit of discomfort for a while and he will recover. All the while he'll be paid comfortably more than the average supporter and well looked after by the club until he recovers. So why should I have any sympathy for him? He's had three years of wages out of the club and contributed virtually nothing of value. In human terms, he'll be 100% well physically in a few months, so for me - no big deal. There are many, many more people in the world in a worse position.

Exactly, excellent post. Agree about Brennan completely, he is one of us and deserves our support. He must be feeling pretty down at the moment

Considering it’s a small squad, to have 3 players all out with ACL injuries is incredible really.

I have reached the conclusion that piglet may have a problem with the olde gange, he seems to have these turns every now and then, he reminds me a of an old stoner I used to know back in the day, he would knock a joint up when he opened his eyes first thing in the morning, then by four o’clock he was reciting poetry, then after that, few hours later and following the munchies and several white-ies would spout the biggest load of bullshit you have ever heard attacking everyone and everything……

He made 43 appearances last year (according to soccerbase) so hardly likely to get an insurance payout unless this injury is career-ending in itself. With three players out with long-term injuries at least they can work together to pull themselves through. I always felt it was a long lonely walk to the gym each day when a player was working by himself, despite the presence of a fitness coach. Simmo does seem to include the injured players and keep them as part of the group which is good.

There’s times when an opposition player or even one of our own have been injured and thought it’s a blessing.

But you don’t want anyone to be injured. Players have family’s and being injured means you can’t have a kick about with son/daughter etc.

On Dickenson, hasn’t impressed me but i was also of the oppion of others that there’s a footballer there. I’m quite disappointed as I’m sure Simmo saw something and he’d have improved.

Very tough

From reports, Brennan's injury is a Grade 2 ACL sprain. There are two questions, how painful is it? and how unstable is the knee? If the answers are bad then ligament graft surgery is needed and he's out for the season. On the other hand is the tear is quite minor and the knee remains stable then 3 months of physio could see him back to training. Obviously we hope his injury is at the minor end of the Grade 2 range.

Longer term however Brennan's style of play as a LWB does mean he is subjecting his joints to very high levels of stress and having a heavy muscular build makes it harder on his joints than if he had a Brendan McGill physique. First thing is for Brennan to get back to fitness but LWB may now be too demanding a position for his body to take for much longer.

Just reading google, even if it's at the softer end, he'll not play again this year. Tough, very tough at 29

Great! Let's all get players retired! Marko, you certainly give the reason I hardly post on here or look in.

The recovery of ACL injuries has improved dramatically over the last twenty years. Once over it was career ending then it turned to a full year out, now some can make it back in just over half that time.

Was hoping he’d be proving a few folk wrong this season. Desperately unlucky, wishing the lad as speedy a recovery as is possible.
