Cobra meeting held to discuss plan of action if it comes to the UK (assuming it hasn't already). This is another consequence of globalisation and mass immigration, people with diseases from all over the world travelling all over the world, what could possibly go wrong?

Its flights from Italy you need to worry about. China have banned flights coming in from Italy.

It's expected to peak in 3 months with another 3 months to subside.

The virus is from China.

Italy banned flights from China on 30 January.

I should have added (once more) it is too late to ban flights from anywhere.

Flights are no longer the problem.

The virus is in the UK and is now spreading from person to person.

Flights are no longer of any significance.

If it can't be contained you're better off getting it now while the nhs still has staff and beds to treat you, rather than waiting for the hump and being left to live or die thrashing about in your own bed with no medicine while the army patrols the streets outside :)
The government needs to start thinking about closing schools and cancelling events with large numbers of people, this virus is going to cause total devastation

No sense in increasing the number of possible carriers tho I'd have thought.

The next phase is Delay... so if the number of cases can be delayed till warmer weather arrives (apparently) we stand a chance of it dieing out itself

One thing this coronavirus is proving is just how stupid society has become - having to be told how to wash our hands and to put tissues in the bin, people stock piling toilet rolls and Americans refusing to drink corona!

A ring a ring of roses or 3 blind mice would be more appropraite!

As for no deaths in the last 24 hours - the data released at 2pm is only up till 9am today.

Italian results just out - 778 new cases and 49 new deaths.

Second death rumours in Milton Keynes really chuffed for you.

Brexit, Climate Change, Coronavirus... nowt bothers Alan because it's all bollocks :-)

I have a vision of Alan holed out in a bunker somewhere on the top of Blencathra surrounded by toilet rolls and tins of spam and baked beans singing bollocks to everything to the tune of Land of Hope and Glory.

I am talking about the daily updates - not the accumulated totals - China has shut down cities and are a few weeks ahead of Italy but could risk a 2nd wave. More countries have also been infected from Italy rather than China.

The Uk is delaying a Chinese style shut down for 2 reasons - 1) The economic and social factors & 2) Computer models have shown shutting will cause a larger 2nd wave going into the next winter.

Well bloody say daily updates!

I have an image of you pulling all-nighters, flicking between Al-Jazeera and RTV, updating your charts hourly at the moment...

20883 tested in UK with 164 positive and 2 dead.

Extrapolate that across the UK and there’ll be 513,604 contracting the virus and 6263 deaths.

So not too bad. :-D

Taiwan has set the gold standard for containing the virus. You'll be safer there than most places.
