Cobra meeting held to discuss plan of action if it comes to the UK (assuming it hasn't already). This is another consequence of globalisation and mass immigration, people with diseases from all over the world travelling all over the world, what could possibly go wrong?

Has now spread to Austria, Switzerland and Croatia from Northern Italy.

Advising people to self isolate - most of whom won't. Takes 2 weeks for symptoms to show so confirmed cases will just be the tip of the iceberg.

Think this is the big one that has been long overdue.

I would not be surprised if ISIL or the Iranians weaponize it by sending agents with it abroad. Could have a more damaging effect than lone strikes by knife yielding zealots.

The big problem with this virus is you can have it and be infectious without having any symptoms. This means it can spread rapidly by people going about their normal daily lives. The chances are that there will be more Italian-type outbreaks with no obvious connection to China. Hopefully us Brits with our regular winter colds will have sufficiently strong immune systems to avoid the worst of it.

Saw a worrying video on Twitter from some exiled Chinese billionaire, he's spoken to someone in Wuhan who's told him the figures released for cases and deaths are being faked....extra portable cremotoria being shipped in and around the country...also said if a cover up is happening this wouldn't be happening if the virus started in bat and animal species!

My mate in Taiwan says its likely to be one in every three who gets the virus dies and the official figures are obviously skewed. If it wasn’t that high then they wouldn’t be all the panic and hysteria.

Could just be Taiwanese propaganda but they are saying it’s definetly a man made virus from the Wuhan labororties but no one knows if it got out accidentally or on purpose. Says after investigations O blood types suffer the worst and AB neg the least - something for scientists to investigate I suppose.

No it seems clear the death rate is around 1-2% but if 5 million Brits become infected it could mean 100,000 extra deaths. Blood groups and genetically-derived resistance might help to explain how some people display no symptoms while others get it bad.

The death rate is closer to 3.5% and is likely to be higher with a lot in critical condition.

When my uncle had a heart attack the doctor told him to avoid getting over excited, so BP was the ideal place to recuperate.

One of the recommendations is to not touch your face with your hands.
Can you imagine women doing this.
They are forever flicking their hair, and the amount of makeup some of them they use, that would make it impossible for them,

I seen that today and got emailed pages from it, very uncanny.

Then again Terry Nation also nailed it with the show Survivors in 1975.

"Survivors is a British post-apocalyptic fiction drama television series created by Terry Nation and produced by Terence Dudley at the BBC, that broadcast from 1975 to 1977. It concerns the plight of a group of people who have survived an apocalyptic plague pandemic, which was accidentally released by a Chinese scientist and quickly spread across the world via air travel. Referred to as "The Death", the plague kills approximately 4,999 out of every 5,000 human beings on the planet within a matter of weeks of being released."
