Cobra meeting held to discuss plan of action if it comes to the UK (assuming it hasn't already). This is another consequence of globalisation and mass immigration, people with diseases from all over the world travelling all over the world, what could possibly go wrong?

Anybody think advising us to keep washing our hands is a bit like during the cold war when the advice was if theres a nuclear strike you should hide under the stairs

No. It’s basic, simple hygiene advice, tried and tested...

Unlike those masks so many are wearing, which are apparently no use at all.

Washing and the paddock don't really go hand in hand. Still no cases in Scotland, cured by alcohol theory looking good so far

Does BP actually have hot running water?

It's always been cold in the East Stand for as long as I remember.

Deaths has now hit 3,000.

Not sure why 2% deaths is being used in the media.

Of the closed cases (although a Japanese woman got re-infected) deaths are at 7%.

Of the active cases 18% (7,704) are serious or critical.

2% deaths are being used by the media as that’s the reports from China. Taiwan are reporting 1/3 deaths but again that seems very high.

The problem is the virus is rampant in Italy from where it has spread across Europe. There are probably 10 times the number of infections than have been announced as many carriers are asymptomatic. The UK should start banning all flight arrivals from Northern Italy and force people who've been there to self-isolate.

Went to school with him,my first thought when reading the article was he's going to lose business wearing that.
I'm still in Tenerife and no one seems to worried at the moment,i haven't seen anyone wearing a mask today and only half a dozen since we arrived on Tuesday.

I have a really good friend in Italy who studied Bio- chemistry and I've been following the stats.

She was in Northern Italy skiing and was in Milan for 3 hours.

China are good at containing as they are not worried about keeping people in their flats at gun point. But believe me nothing is being done outside the few hot zones and no one is self isolating.

There is a lag behind active cases and deaths.

There is more concern about tourism and the economy in Italy - would you trust someone to self isolate?

Too late to ban flight arrivals from anywhere.

It didn't spread from Italy. It arrived from China. Remember the scout leader from Brighton? He had the virus before it was detected anywhere in Italy.

Italy was the only European country to ban flights from China but it still arrived in Italy.

The virus is probably even more rampant in England but just hasn't been detected yet.

Howoldboy of course the virus has spread from Italy. Nearly every European country has been infected by a traveller from Northern Italy. There must be at least 1,000 active carriers in Italy to have had such 'success' in infecting travellers there. This is a very good article from the Guardian which has a helpful graphic showing the spread.
