Why don’t we just announce he’s working for us? Worst kept ‘secret’ yet that he’s now employed by the Club in some capacity.

Can’t take that long to come up with a title surely?!

"We have to work extra hard, because we don’t have huge funds, but it doesn’t bother me one iota. We’ve proved this season we can do what perhaps a Leicester did."

I hope he means boosting out the third division and win the premiership. Otherwise he is actually saying we can only hope to compete with a big six of Cambridge, Cheltenham, Morecambe, Forest Green etc etc

"Without the consequences of a dreadful period of time that nobody could have foreseen coming,"

Yeh, that pandemic that had been around for 9 months and killed 100,000 came out of nowhere to be fair

Christ, I could do the same for every single sentence of nothingness and bollocks

For a director of football he's very vague about the direction the football is going in. 3 interviews later and it's still like reading tea leaves to figure out what he actually means.

We did ask for him to say something and he has, to be fair.

Although it does feel like one of those 5000 word essays you have to do at uni and you run out of things to say at 3000, so you just add waffle so you can fill the page and quota.

I’m all for doing a Leicester though.

I read the article twice-it says and means nothing. As an accountant I just see a gaping hole in the balance sheet and no idea if it’s going to be collected or written off.The fact it’s been novated means it’s real in my view

All these contract options in favour of CUFC are astute, credit to no David Holdsworth, especially if he’s doing the recruitment on a massively lower budget than Curle and Co

The budget side of things frustrates me because of the great job he is doing etc - If my budget for the food shopping is £100 then that is my budget and I can't spend over it, I don't see why Holdsworth wants credit for doing this in a footballing sense.

I'd settle for emulating Leicester.

What's his time frame for Champions League qualification? Five years?

Knighton reckoned he could do it in ten.

First step is to find us a crazy rich Asian to plough some of his sweatshop related millions into the club :)

Bar maybe six or seven top flight clubs every club going wants to do a Leicester - so that just makes us the same as every other club out there.

I can imagine us shuffling around in the bottom division forever whilst Holdsworth perfects his formula for success.

reading this thread it does seem a case of damned if you don't and damned if you do.

Unfortunately it seems to be like this with most threads on here Bumble.
I think its probably best to keep out of most of them. (Something which I have become an absolute failure at, to be honest!!!!)

I wonder if "doing a Leicester" also includes building a new 30,000 capacity stadium then only paying 5p in the £1 for the privilege, outspending everyone else in the division on player salaries while you're at it?

Maybe, on reflection, doing a Brentford would be a better option.

Big Dave wasn’t to be seen when we were on that bad run. Funny that.

We should be compared more to a Bournemouth than a Leicester
He needs reminding that we have spent 8 of the last 15 years in League 1, and as fans, have higher aspirations!

Big Dave deserves praise for the recruitment - if it is indeed true that we’re operating on a much lower football budget than in previous seasons. The challenge for him is to improve things over the summer so we become a top three side.

If Cambridge, Cheltenham and Morecambe (possibly) can do it, we should be able to.

The likes of Bolton, Salford, and Mansfield chucking money at it must be really peeved.

Perfectly summed up Richard, he talks mostly shite!

Curle 2.0 - talks a lot and says absolutely nothing.

The difficulty here is that PD holds all the cards-sound familiar?

So we have a football club being run by someone who has been discredited by the pandemic and who doesn’t like football-with a £2.1m debt to help smooth any arguments or misunderstandings.

How did we get here but more importantly what happens next?Bullshitting the fans by saying they know where they are heading but not stating where.

It’s nearly the end of April 2021-the last club accounts filed were for the year ended 30 June 2019-thats nearly two years ago or in football speak 2 whole seasons. For all the bullshit about transparency and a set of 2019 accounts Tolstoy would have been proud of, it’s a total vacuum.

Holdsworth is the problem here.

He's happy with this shit show so the long ball and dirty physical tactics are obviously what he's aiming for.

"I've never had to say to the manager can you do that rather than this"

Translates as:

"I've never had to tell the manager to play passing football I'm happy with the hoof"

The buck stops with the director of football. He can [censored] off away from the club and take his little bitch Beech along with him.

if this is the case he should be transparent and accountable like everyone else. His position should be including his role and resp but with this club we will find the information disclosed and released in 2026 like everything else.
As you all enjoy this gorgeous weather, we should spare a thought for our Director of Football. I'm guessing no man is busier in the world of football right now, and he is probably drowning in contracts, numbers, players in and out. Go well Mr Holdsworth.
