Watched overnight at wuk, they contained the Aussies for a good while but once again let the gane get away from themselves letting the lower order crack a few boundaries.

Lucky to survive batting at the end of the day...out for a quack but saved by a no ball.
The inevitable collapse is for day 3.

Could be collapses plural. Wouldn't be surprised to see us bowled out twice tomorrow, or very close to.

The turning point for me was Root's drop of Khawaja when he was on 20 something. That would have been 4 down for less than 200.

Broad has played like someone with a point to prove. In general we have bowled too short.....again.

We might just scrape enough to avoid the follow on.

Unbelievable, desperate, abysmal, diabolical, hopeless, absolutely piss poor batting again.

Aussies bowlers again showing how it should be done. How many times can you make the same mistakes and not learn.

From 34-4 to 205-6 at least Stokes and Bairstow showing a bit of fighting spirit.

Bairstow has had a good knock, shame it’s in a dead rubber which nobody will remember in a weeks time…

That delivery that hit Stokes stump at full pelt but the bails didn’t come off was a strange one.

One of the worst umpiring decisions you could wish to see. Given out purely on the Aussie appeal. Neither bat nor pad anywhere near it.

After watching up to lunch I gave up. Maybe I should switch off more often.

Ollie Pope keeping Wicket better than Bairstow and Buttler ever did sums it up! :D

358 tomorrow shouldn't be a problem

The weather tomorrow might help to make a draw.

If not, Lyon is the threat I reckon

Into the last hour and 3 wickets in hand.

All dependent on Bairstow for the draw...

Super Jack Leach!

Buttler on way home and Stokes/Bairstow big doubts. Could be some line-up in Hobart!

Nobody could’ve predicted that line-up at the start of this Tour!

Not too bad of a morning so far…

Blown it I'm afraid. You don't get the Aussies at 12 for 3 very often and let them off the hook.

Badly hampered by Robinson's injury and Stokes unable to bowl has reduced it to a 3 man bowling attack (Root occupied an end, that's all). As Sir Geoffrey would say ''you can't judge a wicket until both sides have bowled'' but I can't see England making 200 on that wicket.

Genuinely don’t see logic in playing Stokes in this one. Sod all to play for so let his injury heal…

Just brought up a stat on BT Sport that the last time England played an Ashes series without scoring 300 in an innings was in 1958.

Oh ye of Little faith we’ve still a innings left :p

I hope you're right DB!
271 seems about 100 too many given recent innings mind you.
Really pleased for Wood though. Bowled really well most days and been unlucky not to pick up more wickets.
Can only hope the spirit of Botham is in them today.

An opening partnership passing 50!

Crazy!

On a normal day I wouldn't expect England to make 200 on this track. On a Root or Sir Ben day, anything is possible! Good start, c'mon England.

That is an amazing stat, CCU.
Been a real feature of England's play over past few years how poor our opening partnerships have been.
Hopefully the pasting we've had so far will get the powers that be to look again at how much limited overs cricket is played as it has a huge influence on the style and approach of the players.
Or they could listen to Michael Holding who's very eloquent about the demise of Test cricket.
My wife's half Pakistani and there's no appetite any more over there for 5 day cricket.
We were in Pakistan for the Pakistan India series in 2004 and people got killed in the stampede to get 1 day tickets but the grounds were almost empty for the Tests.

68-0 to 107-7 in approx 2hrs (Which included Tea).

Some of this lot on the Tour should never been seen in a Test team again…

And 124 All Out.

Pathetic…
