Another normal day at the office. This is the result of poor scheduling, and it's all to do with money. I can't remember the last time that England toured Australia and had adequate preparation. Resting your best players for the first test is indefensible.

My wife's half Pakistani and there's no appetite any more over there for 5 day cricket.

Oh the irony of that comment!

124....what a pathetic effort.

If they think winning a few talentless required slogfests that are coming up will be even scant consolation...think again.. gutless and inept performance.

Cancel the lot and fly home and start practicing in the nets for proper cricket again.Aussies must be pissing their pants with laughter at us

Dreadful stuff.
What about staying in and digging in.? Occupying the crease.
It's like watching a cat on a hot tin roof or someone with ants in their pants.
They just can't wait to play shots and are always looking to score.
What's happened to leaving the ball?
How often do English Test cricketers face 100 balls anymore?
The art of the batsmen playing Test match cricket seems to be dying in England.

The only decent thing I saw this morning was Ian Botham during the interval whilst talking to David Gower, giving his thoughts on what is wrong with English cricket and what needs to be done about it.
It is not all about chasing the money.

I think what would sort things out is maybe a 80 ball competition ?. Seriously though the Sheffield shield must be a far better environment for young batsmen to learn in than what we have over here.

Harrison should go now as well.
County cricket should be reorganised to make it competitive and interesting to more people than 1 man and his dog.
Stop chasing money in limited over cricket and get rid of the 100.
Give Kirsten a go.
Get Boycott back to coach them how to occupy the crease. ;)

I agree - Kirsten should have got the job last time. Silverwood was too matey with the players as evidenced by the end of tour booze-up in Australia and didn't have the personality or character to kick the senior pros backsides when needed.

There's been a poor impression given by England's senior players and coaching staff for a while. A prickly and defensive attitude to any sort of criticism. Root's post-match interviews have typified this - a frequent refusal to admit they got anything wrong on selection or strategy. Players like Moeen saying he can only bat one way, so take it or leave it.

Strauss is obviously going to get his old job back from Giles which is fair enough, although he was a big supporter of The Hundred.

The Hundred was absolute dross, yet was accompanied by the same sort of defensive bluster about what a success it was from the ECB and BBC alike.

And Graham Thorpe away too…

Thorpe should have gone after the India tour. Fine batter in his day but, struggled to improve any individual in the England ranks.

Kirsten should have got it last time but they wanted an English coach and gave it to Silverwood.

Kirsten might listen again along with Justin Langer following his early departure from the Aussies. Player power seems to have brought about his decision to leave.

England batting coach always makes me laugh. Surely the fact they get picked means they should already be able to bat ?

It needs something radical.
I'm sure both will feature in the summer tests.
