Yes its weird especially with all the guidance in place for their journey through junior teams and into the county set up.

Maximum overs at u13 is 4 u15 is 5 and so on.

It makes you wonder is this is what is actually impacting all these injuries, i.e. their bodies are not used to it!

Good to see Brook get in he looks a talent

Massive Summer for Crawley/Lees, hopefully they settle.

Pope at 3 is a big roll of the dice, and I’d rather have Brook in at 5 then Bairstow who’s played white ball only recently.

Potts deserves his chance, another from the Durham Quick Factory!

Top three is still a massive issue.

I'd have thrown Compton in there as an opener.

Crawley first class average 48

Lees first class average 35

Compton first class average 69

It's a no-brainer.

New Zealand should be massive favourites for the series.

7 overs in and NZ are a very England-esque 7-3!!!

Anderson conceding ZERO runs in his first four overs and taking two wickets!

Never dull…

Bit of a weird decision to win the toss and bat first, given England's shakey batting over the past however long.

Did we give them a bung to boost ticket sales or do they get a percentage?

Was reading other other day that we've been bowled out for 85 or less, once the 1st wicket has gone, 7 times in 3 years.
7 times less than 85.
That's an unbelievable statistic.
Been watching England since the mid 70s and am struggling to remember a worse run of results in test cricket.
Was reading about this the other day. Really good England side got absolutely thumped.

Batsmen are stuck in 20/20 mode....there lies the problem.. they have forgotten the basics of settling in as batsmen and playing safe when needed, theres no stubborn players like Atherton anymore to hold fort for the entire innings... They fold quicker than a pack of cards nowadays.

Sometimes I think it's ego. Bairstow, as the main culprit, seems completely unwilling to let a few overs go past and take the heat out of a situation - he has this ridiculous need to show the bowlers what a big man he is by thumping boundaries time and again.

His dismissal on Thursday night, 5 down and as the last remaining senior batsman was criminal. And he gets out like that a lot.

That’s Bairstow who was playing white ball up until a week or so ago, who folk think is the second coming as he hit a couple of tons v the Windies!

Harry Brook creaming runs in Div 1 of the County Championship but lets have him carrying drinks…

This is his 85th test match!! That's more than Trescothick or Jonathan Trott. It's more than Robin Smith! And he has an average of about 34 to show for it.

How can England have New Zealand 45-7 and 56-4 and still get well beat!

277 to win. Over 150 be a miracle on current form…

Brook should have been first on the team sheet - and not for carrying the drinks.
Watching the first (and probably second innings) shambles up close will probably scar him for life, when beforehand his confidence would have been sky high.

And that proves my point. 16 off 15 balls and then out - with 2 and a half feckin days left - isn't exactly what the situation needed.

An utter tit of the highest order.

It is going to take years to sort this shambles out, providing there is the will to commit to test cricket. 🙁

Having got themselves into a winnable position, there is still time for another collapse.
