Australia are a pale shadow themselves, though the Home advantage will help them, especially with no Barmy Army etc…

There will still be a lot of 'poms' residing there that will support England particularly in Perth and Sydney. It won't be enough unfortunately.

Australia's batting looks iffy but have we the bowling to exploit that? One quick bowler and he won't stay fit for five tests.
At the other end Cummins and Hazelwood against England's batting could get embarrassing.

Found it bizarre we didn’t give Hameed a Central Contract but happily take him to the Ashes!

A second one-sided thrashing this weekend with pre-tournament favourites India soundly dispatched by New Zealand a moment ago. India are staring at elimination, which would be a good laugh given their huge resources.

After yesterday's demolition of the Aussies, a perfect end to the weekend with India getting thumped as well.

Will be interesting to see who takes over the captaincy with the Aussies with Paine stepping down this morning following text messages to a female colleague!

Smith's captaincy ban has now expired but, would still be unpopular among some people. Cummins is vice captain but, not the ideal replacement. Still going for a whitewash especially as Root may yet be subject to some Rafiq shockwaves.

Cummins seems to be the clear favourite.

Paine can probably expect a few on-field comments over the content of his messages. Banners saying "Finish Paine off right now" etc

Possibly the worst England test team I can remember.

The short format game has ruined proper cricket in the UK.

We have two decent players in our team (Root & Stokes) the rest are garbage.

Whitewash incoming.

Absolutely shocking performance getting skittled out like that on the 1st day..

Dropping Broad as well is criminal too.

Terrible but no great surprise given the performance of our top order over the last couple of years.

Shot ourselves in the foot by not bowling in those conditions, but even so.

Expect that innings to be a blueprint for our batting for the rest of the series, top order blown away despite plucky but low-scoring resistance from Hameed, Root not living up to expectations and a couple of 20s or 30s down the order.

We'll bowl ok to begin with without taking wickets then Wood will break down with injury. Ditto Anderson in the next Test.

The commentary from the Aussies is unbearable.
Why on earth didn't BT send out Atherton, Cook, Holding etc out and get them to commentate and intersperse with Taylor and Warne et al?
It was dreadful.
Bring back Geoffrey.
Turned it off and listened to TMS.

Felt for the seamers today who all bowled well and really pleased for Robinson after what he's been through. Can't be doing with hounding people for things they said as teenagers.
Could've been a decent day but missed too many opportunities.
Stokes doesn't look fit, no surprise really given his time out.
Aussies in targeting spinner shock. Must have known they'd go for Leach and doesn't look like a turning pitch.
Feel for Rory Burns. His head must be all over the place after that duck.
Hard to understand leaving Broad out particularly with his record against Warner. Haven't we learned about dropping Broad yet? Tried it 2 or 3 times before and always end up bringing him back.

Agree about the frontline bowlers who all bowled really well. Once again the bowlers have to get the batsmen out of the poo.
They are all under cooked and it showed with the batting effort. It's a shame that we are so much on the back foot after just 2 days. This pink ball theory is bollocks, the Aussie bowlers are no less proficient than ours.
Agree totally about leaving Broad out, is there an injury niggle they're keeping quiet.
Root's record as captain has taken a hammering in the last 12/18 months. Maybe Buttler should take over.
Still going 5-0.

Give me a test match any day of the week over hit and giggle nonsense. A really good day of cricket.

Well that was a pleasant surprise to wake up to, expected to see the headlines of an innings defeat! Hopefully good for the rest of the tour if we can make the Aussies work for a test win.

Pleased for Root and Malan. The openers did the hard work, then got out. 6 bowlers used by the Aussies, maybe they have issues as well.
The first session tomorrow will make or break the game.

Was on nights last night so had the pleasure of watching a bit of it on my fire stick app when it was quiet..:p much better play ast night...sensible ,disciplined batting, with very few rash shots has restored some credibility in the game..
Looking forward to the action tonight..I still think that they will fold like a pack of cards if they lose another 2 wickets..
