We have supposedly been housing “refugees” at the hiltop.

Last week my mother got verbally abused by a group of these lovely people when she had an appointment up there.

Several accusations of women being followed etc.

Today 3 of them jump on the roof complaining about conditions/money and kill the police.

Not a women or child in site.

Nearly every ‘Hand Car Wash’ inside the M25 is an Albanian money laundering service and has been for many years!

I wouldn't be surprised.

A book called ‘Albanian Mafia Wars’ would open a few folks eyes! Usually around a tenner on Amazon etc…

Vat should go up Marko-it’s a spending tax.

Last time I looked, £15 an hour works out at c£30k pa.

That works out at about £3300 tax and c£5000, total say £8300 in tax and nics collected.

The current minimum wage is a pathetic £9.50-c£18.5k pa.The total tax and nics on this is c£3300 pa.

Would not be surprised if VAT goes up. Hunt has already said that everyone will pay more tax and this ia a tax everyone pays
So putting the rate up to £15 per hour generates an extra £5k of tax and Nics.

Of course you have the loss of corporation tax but that is far lower than the personal taxes collected and you have paid a decent salary to someone.

As I said, companies should be prepared to pay a decent salary. Next paying £10per hour is a disgrace

I would not be surprised if VAT is increased. Hunt has said that everyone will pay more tax, and this is the one every individual pays on purchases (food and papers excepted of course).

More taxes to pay for this government's financial incompetence and still we are spending £7 million a day looking after 'illegal invaders'

That works out at just over £2.5 billion a year.

By the way the last successful invasion of this country was by William the Conqueror in 1066.🙂

It’s always the government’s fault.Pandemic, Putin, energy crisis-all have to be paid from somewhere. That means tax.

The government has become the whipping boy and the crutch-all too easy to blame but also rely on.A culture of someone else will pay.

I think increasing vat may work-it’s largely levied on consumables and targeted on non essentials.Anyone with feet under size 5 will be safe in the knowledge they can buy kids shoes

We need a wealth tax and targeted support for energy bills My mother was round for lunch yesterday she had received her government payment for energy and said she didn’t need it

One of the positive things to come out of this, for me at least, is to make me look into some of the people representing the city at a local level with a bit more scrutiny. John Stevenson, I think we are all aware he is our MP. But could you name a councillor? Before this I couldn't have named a single one. The more I hear/see the more concerned I am about the quality of the people. And I'm not talking one area or one party. Local councillors of any persuasion just don't seem very competent. I read about the lib dem guy from Stanwix in the news and star, giving his opinion. So I did a quick Google and first result that comes up, Twitter. Below is his page. Are any of our politicians not total clowns?

Two police officers injured and hospitalised last Wednesday whilst attending an incident at a hotel in Alston, where asylum seekers were being accommodated for just 48 hours.

" Mustafa Osman, 27, of no fixed address, was charged with two counts of attempt to cause grievous bodily harm with intent to do grievous bodily harm, criminal damage and affray. He has been remanded in custody to appear at Carlisle Crown Court on December 9. "

This article has been quickly removed from the main website (you can only find it by searching for it, link below), neither were they accepting any comments on the story.

Is this where we do the daily express thing? Fat George is unemployed and gets 30k a year unemployment so it's OK for kids to suffer from vitamin deficiency.

Using that logic you should be banned from BP because all cufc fans lob coins at the opposition. Or was it actually just 1 [censored]?

Brexit was a political choice. Lockdown was a political choice. Sanctions against cheap energy providers, political choice..

Sending more guns to Ukraine while British people freeze, political choice

It doesn't say which hotel so I guess it could be Lowbyer Manor which is closed to guests for the winter. If it was just for 48 hours they wouldn't bother turning the heating on!

Quite a good idea sending them to Alston. They'll be wanting to go back to Albania sharpish after a few days hold up there. :D

Taffy

I do blame Labour for the financial crisis and a whole lot more.Brown was addicted to the tax paying City like he was on coke-less regulation remember!

I blame Blair for the current immigrant crisis

Tax the wealthy-you sound like that clown Denis Healey with his pip squeaking. That really worked.

Meanwhile Corbyn is thinking of standing for mayor of London-I hope he does m.He’s the best advert for the anti Labour vote.

Thank goodness we still have all our £billions of gold reserves to rely on if we should ever need them, imagine if "prudence" Brown had sold them all off for a pittance when gold prices were rock bottom!

If margins narrow vat returns to the exchequer will narrow. You pay vat on the difference between cost and revenue.

World governments have increased gold holdings by 400% in the last 2 years. Obviously Britain is an exception, we haven't done this

Anyone else heard that rumour that all the bushes and trees around the hilltop are to be cut down because of the amount of attempted sexual assaults and incidents in the area.

Not being reported for some reason and the person was concerned that her claims would be taken down from Facebook.

Like the Alson incident - how would you feel if one of your family was attacked because you were unaware of the dangers in the area because the media is not allowed to report it?

If a British person committed the crime it would be plastered all over the news so why are this lot different - just because they cannot control these people they are putting us all in danger and do not want to be found culpable for any of the fall out.

I was looking for something to watch recently and this programme was on in the background, this lady sobbing and describing her son 'he was such a caring boy and he would do anything for anybody' followed by footage of the lad, turns out that he had died in the crossing from France so this show that was designed to highlight their plight and hardship through tragedy made me angry as this woman had practically killed her own son. the blood was on her hands - she should be in prison for her crime.

I get it when the bombs are flying round you in say Ukraine so you get in a boat hoping to not get blown up or shot from stray bullets flying all around you, but strategically plotting and paying for an illegal crossing from a safe country like France is not on, if anyone dies it is technically a business deal that has gone wrong and they want the book thrown at them as the motive was not built from necessity but through sheer greed.

Nice deflection there. Let's all ignore the problem.
Well said Munch. Heard from a few folk they are wary of going out at night in Carlisle, cause they no longer feel safe. Only a matter of time until we have a serious incident. Some people will say, I told you so and the refugees welcome gang will be responsible.

Read above Moonie about the Alston incident for an example.

And if the media are taking it upon themselves not to report or allow comments on things that massively affect peoples lives then what purpose do they serve?
