Sounds like we’ll be missing one or two first choice players tomorrow….

“It will be very clear on Saturday afternoon when the 18 are selected who they are. I’m not going to make Crawley’s match preparation easier by saying who it is.”

We may be just unlucky, but if there are reasons for all the injuries at the moment they need to be addressed.

Are pitches particulary 'hard' at the moment? Brunton Park seems particularly well watered. I would guess
all the others are too.

Some of the players mentioned that this pre-season was the hardest they've experienced.
Was it too strenuous?

When most of the injuries are cleared up we will have some squad and team. Regardless a lot of players have contracts to play for and there is healthy competition for positions and places.

Sounds like we have a couple of fresh injury concerns for Saturday.

So Edmondson left the ground in a moon boot. No reoccurrence of his previous injury, this happened when he gave the soft foul away at the waterworks end corner in the second minute. Twisted his ankle.

Callum Guy is out with a groin injury from training, but should be back in a couple of weeks.

Have honestly never known a 4-5 weeks like this for injuries. It’s absolutely insane.

Not good news about Edmo we may regret not getting another striker in. With him and Sho Silver missing any more injuries and we will struggle to put anyone on the field who can score goals.
Feel for Devitt as well just got himself in and hit with another injury.

Far too many injuries now not to be a coincidence and most seem to be happening in training.

Surely questions have to be asked? (I know PP has been on about it sonce pre-season).

There’s never been a season like this for injuries. Dropping like flies on a weekly basis.

We get a player back then 2 more get crocked. Ridiculous.

Seems a lot of clubs have had big injury lists lately, to hazard a guess it might be to do with:

Less pre season (with season starting early)

Amount of games played - not sure I remember as many games played over that time frame

The fact we had an obscenely warm summer and the ground was rock hard (lack of adequate training pitches).

Crocked players - Devitt and Dickenson both prone to injuries. Guy prone to an injury too.

Types of players recruited: Moxon and Harris you have to expect injuries at some point with the step up.

Lack of recruitment structure dodgy Dave left - unable to get all players in early enough.

Bad luck: Every year at some point you get an injury crisis - hopefully ours has been with the contact injuries to: Feeney, Barclay, Edmondson etc.

All good points CUFC52. However I was thinking about this. My own view is that Simmo was looking to up the quality of the squad and he took a gamble on the fitness of the players. Edmo probably has a history of niggling injuries but if fit is likely to be too good for this division. Devitt had well known fitness issues but Simmo still took him on. As a result we have a squad capable of doing well but with inevitable injuries along the way. We'll see at the end of the season whether Simmo's gamble paid off.

Devitt will be ‘several weeks’…

Very interesting comment from Simmo when he was singing the praises of Fin Back. "He understands the difference between being sore and being injured." He rather implied that some other (younger) players don't. Every player who reports an 'injury' seems to be sent for a scan. This treatment pathway probably does formalise 'injuries' which Simmo when he was playing would regard as just the regular soreness you'd expect after a game.

Doesn’t sound like very good news for Devitt :(

Not surprised Re Devitt breaking down again, His body has gone as a pro player that’s why Barrow ditched him & frankly I was amazed you signed him for this season again as he’s never ever getting back as he plays a handful then is crocked on spin & repeat, Shame for the lad in all honesty

Devitt came in last season when we we looked to be completely gone and heading down.
He quietly played a part in the good spell that we had that saved our bacon.
I suppose it seems we made the wrong decision now in offering him a new deal but it was very much understood that this was a strong possibility.
The decision to offer Dickemson a new deal was 1000 times worse.

As per Fleetwood match thread, Simmo said post-match that Patrick felt his hamstring tighten during a run and they're hopeful that by taking him off early, they've avoided anything serious.
Also mentioned that Dennis hasn't trained the last two days with an issue, which he felt on Sunday. Has improved over the last 24 hours.

We’ve struggled to score goals as it is with the latest scares we will be lucky if we can field a forward line other than Stratton and Bollardo or recall Fishburn.
One notable thing from last night is Harris he’s slowly catching up with what’s required of him, he’s an intelligent passer of the ball always looks to make sure he finds his man, also shows strength on the ball, there’s a decent player in there.

With Dennis now injured I’m quite surprised Patrick was involved last night.

It will be interesting to see what formation we lineup Saturday if indeed Stretton is our only option.

I wonder if it has anything to do with modern football "boots"?
