I haven't watched Sky for a long time but decided to buy a Now 24-hour pass today. I thought the gap between League 1 and League 2 is getting bigger. Sunderland deserved to win it but crikey after hearing the total drivel the so-called experts speak it's no wonder Leagues 1 and 2 are pretty well left to rot by the hierarchy of football.

The usual guff was wheeled out at regular intervals. " A big team like Sunderland Doesn't deserve to be in League 1 " must have been said 20 times. They don't seem to have any grasp of how the football pyramid works and that clubs are where they should be based on games won. They are still talking about it now "unthinkable if they didn't go up".

I can't imagine what they would have said back at the end of the 1973/74 season. Patronising nomarks.

Totally agree, the drivel served up by the so-called studio experts, the gushy look-at-me female studio link person and the clueless expert on commentary definitely takes away from the event.

How difficult would be be to employ experienced, interesting people to add to the occasion.

I must confess that I sometimes turn the sound off when watching a lower league game and lose the important atmosphere of a big crowd noise like today.

Sunderland did well to win, but hats off to the dignified way the Wycombe staff and players conducted themselves in defeat.

“Shouldn’t be” would be better than “Doesn’t deserve” IMO.

They are because they’ve been poor. Mind they’d have been out of it earlier if they hadn’t concentrated on the Trophy!

Top fans the Mackems. 46,000+ fans there, Newcastle would never have taken that if they’d been in L1.

What does that make Rangers fans who took 100,000 to Seville ?

Bankrupt as well possibly.

That's a good effort , using your 24 hour pass to watch Sunderland V Wycombe and not the Premier League.

Sunderland must have been on tv a few times in their league 1 days.
When we were in league 1 , it was typically a game against Leeds or Forest that would be the only time we would get on the box.

You would think they would show some of the more unfashionable sides every now and then, just for the kudos.

We were also shown live away to MK Dons on a Saturday lunchtime.

Were any of our league games against Leeds televised?

Don't believe so - our 4-0 hammering at the hands of Brentford was picked as a Monday night game, which may have been an international weekend.

Milton Keynes was an International Weekend, 12:15 KO or thereabouts, as I went on to Wembley for the England game afterwards which was a 5pm KO from memory…

That MK Dons game was indeed an early kick off. Bit of a bitch to travel to on public transport from Sheffield that morning.

Think I got a National Express bus to Milton Keynes then a regular service bus from Milton Keynes to their ground in Bletchley.
