Find it funny to read “I would like to see Hope go” considering he’s the only player we have who has proved he can score goals at this level.

Aye he's the best forward we've got. 40 goals scored or assisted in the last two seasons.

George Miller has just signed for Scunthorpe on loan for the season. Wouldn't be surprised if he was the 20 goal striker SP was referring to. Would certainly fit the bill for high pressing style of play.

Miller only got three league goals for Bradford last season so it's unlikely he'd be the 20 goal striker although he did get 8 in 19 for Bury the season before.

I’m not so sure myself.

The team Curle inherited from Kav was rock bottom, winless and had just been humped 5-0 by Cambridge.

Suspect this squad might not be quite as bad as it seems, but has just been mismanaged and badly coached by one of the worst managers we’ve had.

It’s a very average team but, to be honest , I find a lot of the teams in League 2 to be much of a muchness.
We are not performing and lack two or three experienced , quality players.
We have gone down the route of short-term deals and ditching the spine of the team as was.
I think the likes of Olomola, McKirdy, Thomas, Loft, Collin, Jones , Jones, Branthwaite are either decent or potentially decent players.
We are short in a couple of areas, CM and in defence, but overall I don’t think the squad is full of completely useless players, but it hasn’t worked.
We have certainly had many poor players play for Carlisle over my time.
The standard of League 2 generally has declined, which i put down to players being stockpiled higher up and the transfer window which doesn’t work for League 2.

For me the worst XI of the last 10 years was the one we took to Bradford away and got smashed 4-0.

Gillespie

Potts
Thirlwell
Livesey
Brough

Amoo
Noble
Berrett
Gillies

Beck
Guy

Paul Black, Kevin Feeley and Jack Lynch were all inspired subs who we brought on in an attempt to change the game.

In all honesty our defence and midfield right now are crap, but I genuinely feel our front 3 of McKirdy, Olomola and Thomas is very good. Look at it this way, I feel more of our current squad would improve the team that played in that Bradford away game, than there would be players from that squad improving the current one.

Loan agreements are written individually with whatever clause either side wants included at the time.
Game time clauses are common, so who knows what is in each of these.

55.1 Subject to the provisions of Regulation 54, Standard Loan transfers shall only be approved in accordance with following provisions:

55.1.1 subject to the proviso that the duration of a Standard Loan must be the time between two Transfer Windows, Standard Loans can be for half a Season or a full Season;

55.1.2 any recall clause requiring the early termination of a Standard Loan can only be included in a full Season Standard Loan and this can only be activated during the Winter Transfer Window;

Guidance

The EFL will permit Clubs to amend standard loan agreements to include an early termination clause where this was omitted from the original agreement.

55.1.3 any other early termination of a Standard Loan must be by way of a mutual agreement in writing (including by way of a recall clause within the Standard Loan Agreement) between the Transferor Club, the Transferee Club and the Player but can only be completed:

(a) after the expiry of 28 days; and

(b) only during a Transfer Window (but subject to Regulation 55.1.4 below) unless otherwise agreed by the League in its absolute discretion (subject to such conditions as the League deems appropriate);

If you look at the Loans on Paper:

Thomas: leaving Shef Utd in May - they’d only take him back if a better offer was on the table or they were paying him up.

Loft: contract expires in summer likely to be released, why spend money to bring g him back (pay his wages)

Olomola: manager hates him unlikely to be recalled unless an agreement via transfer or loan can be made with another club.

Carroll: again out of contract in the summer, why spend money lying wages for someone whose leaving them ? - we might have a chance with this one as he came as a favour to SP from one of his best mates.

In reality all 4 are likely to still be here, unless Fella gets a permanent move.

so we are stuck with them then, god knows why the mik tray man agreed full season loans for all of them!
