Will be writing a strongly worded telegram to my local ombudsman to make sure this event does not get planning permission.

Good song selection but I am slightly disappointed that there was no Climie Fisher in there - you did promise, remember? :(

When does he get unbanned, or is it a permanent one this time?

I disagree with a lot of what NS says, especially away from football, and wishing death upon someone (I didn't see the post) isn't called for and is disgusting really.

But there's no denying he knows he's football stuff - albeit I know people will disagree - yes I don't agree with him thretening to brick peoples houses either but I enjoy reading the majority of NS posts.

NS is a fantasist - I think he wants things to be better than what they are, no bad thing.

There's been reports that people don't post on here because of NS, but he's now/been banned and I can't see an increase in posts.

A short term ban is approprite, a permanent one and youre living in a nanny state.

He didn't actually wish him dead though pal, it is just what you were told.

Just like when I got banned, there are a couple of moderators that say that you said something that you didn't actually say and ban you for it.

Mike admitted 'eventually' that I wasn't laughing at those that died at Hillsborough so why ban me in the first place, if I was having a dig at those poor people then the ban would have been fair - water under the bridge now that it has been cleared up.

I am sure that you will find it the same situation with Barry.

My crime was to copy Alans quote of 'Scousers are never at blame' and NS's tagline was 'If he stepped out in front of me I wouldn't slam on the brakes' which could be misconstrued as a 'death threat'.

How tenuous does it have to be?

Define ‘tenous’.

We, as Mod’s, reserve the right to ban users where we see fit. Occasionally some will disagree with the decision, but we don’t do it ‘off the cuff’.

We also promote free speech, but there are certain boundaries. Not many, but some.

You weren’t banned for one thing only Munchy, and Northern’s tagline disappeared ages ago.

'Tenous' does not exist as a word.

I can help you with tenuous though - a tenuous connection, idea, or situation is weak and possibly does not exist.

Glad to help.

Barry wasn't banned because people "disagree" with those posts, he was banned because posting them was against the rules. You can't pick and chose which rules you follow, and you can't say that just because someone makes a few good points every now and them it justifies them breaking the rules when they feel like. If he wants to post, he needs to follow the rules. Everyone else seems to manage.

If you don't want to be banned, then you follow the rules. The mods here are hardly strict, if Barry posted some of the rubbish he does here on other messaging boards he'd have been permanently banned a long time ago.

munchymagic wrote: I am sure that you will find it the same situation with Barry.

Barry breaks the rules in so many of his posts that he could have been permanently banned many times over. He regularly talks about breaking windows and beating people up. How can people defend him posting that? Every time he posts something like that he is breaking the rules and if the moderators really were as strict as some make them out to be, they'd have more than enough justification to permanently ban him.

When people post rubbish like breaking windows or beating people up, that's not a legitimate discussion. It's not something you can say "oh I disagree with Barry saying this BUT he makes good points sometimes". It's irrelevant whether someone makes good points, they still need to follow the rules and if they don't they risk being banned.

You are missing the point completely - take it on the chin if you have gone too far and don't moan, the acrimony only comes in when your posts are taken down and a ban because some moderator has either misconstrued what you have said or plainly lied about what you had put.

Best just to leave the said posts alone and let other people make their minds up on it instead of jumping in and basically making assumptions, self moderating.

There is nothing to "make their minds up on". If a post is against the rules, it doesn't belong on the forum I also disagree with what you said about "don't moan". If someone breaks the rules then they deserve to be called out on it. "Moaning" implies that they are wrong to complain about it, that they should just put up with it. But why should people put up with it? Why not direct your criticism to the person actually breaking the rules, rather than the person calling them out on it?

Over the last couple of decades standards seem to have slipped. We now seem to have a society where people think they can pick and chose what rules they follow. Then they get angry when challenged about their behaviour, and genuinely seem to think you are the one in the wrong for challenging it.

Time to bring Barry back just to liven the spot up a bit. He wears his heart on his sleeve and that is to be commended and he wants what's best for the club unlike the many mushrooms who choose to deny that the place is being ran into the ground.
