£10 for Hibs match - I think we'de have made more money charging the normal price - can't see the crowd doubling with the cheap entrance.

Several Scottish teams (St Mirren, Dundee United, Falkirk, Partick the notable ones) without a game on the 27th now Cup fixtures are confirmed - Though at CUSG it was suggested it would be English opponents...

You could see where he was going with that one pal, rubbing his hands together at the prospect of playing Rangers and Celtic four times a season and the cash it would bring in.

If we were a better run club then we could easily be in the top flight in Scotland with our crowds, I wouldn't want that though.

Celtic and Rangers however would jump at the chance of playing in the English League - what they don't realise is that they would probably never qualify for any European contest ever again :)

Only Celtic, Rangers, Hibs, Hearts and Aberdeen are bigger than Carlisle in Scotland - we are probably on par, if not bigger than Dundee Utd.

I see what you are saying but it doesn't mean anything if the club is run badly.

Notts County are a far bigger club as in ground capacity and attendances than say Fleetwood but Notts are non-league and Fleetwood are in League One.

Is that the same Dundee United who reached a European Cup semi-final and a UEFA Cup Final in the 80’s?

That Dundee United side circa 1987 was just filled with future stars.

I remember watching them with my Dad beat Barcelona on the television back in the day, great stuff.

Think their keeper was called Billy Thomson and he pulled off some amazing saves, one in particular he tipped onto the bar that looked like it was flying in from distance but he got the slightest touch.

They had a great side in the 80s - Paul Sturrock, Paul Hegarty, David Narey, Richard Gough, Hamish McAlpine in goal, John Clark.

Remember their UEFA Cup run was live on BBC Scotland and I saw quite a few of the games, main think I remember was a game against Gothenburg, could’ve been the final at Tannadice, and the ball going through the sidenetting but was given as a goal.

Hard to believe any Scottish club outside the old firm made a European final but both Aberdeen and Dundee United did it in the 80s, they struggle to get past the qualifying rounds these days.
