This is the trouble and where lines get mixed up. Folk shouting anti Chelsea comments to wind him up. Who really would have ever cared less who he supports before social media? If he is prepared to expose himself on social media then he has to be prepared to be mocked too. You can't have it both ways.

Others still seem to thrive off confrontation and a good argument - the Ibrahimovics and Balotellis of this world, for example.

I'm happy for Harry to get himself all riled up on social media if it results in improved (and matchwinning) performances like today. Maybe a bit of antagonism from our fans is precisely what he needed.

Just to be clear, there is a difference between a match winning performance and a match winning goal. McKirdy today gave the latter, not the former. Mike Jones, Gethin Jones and Thomas were all better than McKirdy today - even though McKirdy will quite rightly take the plaudits for the winning goal.

Missed Webster off the list also, after Mike Jones and just before Gethin Jones in the pecking order.

Of course it's about the team - and especially a performance like today's all the players deserve credit.

But it has to be said, without McKirdy there's no opening goal, no red card - and no winner.

Scunthorpe away, he was barely in the game at all. Had two decent touches all game, one set up our goal, the other created a good chance. If he was Mr Consistent he wouldn't be at Carlisle. But he can create them little bits of magic that lead to goals. Whereas a more consistent player, a Luke Joyce if you like, doesn't so much.

Wasn't there yesterday but sounded much better. There seems to be an Increase in confidence in the squad, McKirdy is a player who seems to love attention ,looks good when things are going well..We need the best out of him and Thomas .
Under Presley that was becoming more and more unlikely. Rome wasnt built in a day but there certainly as been an improvement .
Brantwaite will be an obvious miss ,investment in the squad in January should ensure survival.

McKirdy is a talented player. Has anyone has read "Only a Game" by Dunphy? It strikes me that he's our version of Gordon Hill - talented, unpredictable, and so worth having around, even if he's not the brightest.
Got to laugh though. Someone on here described his goal as an "unbelievable finish" - I pictured a Van Basten Euro 88 type goal, but upon watching it was a free header from 6 yards.

The lad is clearly marmite amongst our fanbase..

18 goal involvements (11 goals & 7 assists) in all competitions this season and it is only January, you can't argue with that.

He was unplayable tonight, and could easily have scored another couple. I think (correct me if I'm wrong) we have an option to extend his deal another year? It'd be a no brainer for me even if it was just to sell him on.

He won't want to stay here - every player is for sale. We are just a feeder club now.

Why would a player fight when they only get contracts till the end of the season.

He's our best player so will be sold.

Nice to know how good a judge of players a lot of fans are. He's quality and as a lot of talented players are he had his faults, he's a very important part of our attempt to stay up this season if we can make the best of his ability and stop the giving away of stupid goals.

If they have that option, they ought to trigger it as early as possible, doing so at the end of the season means that other clubs already have their chance to offer contracts/make approaches to his agents by the time it is on the table.

McKirdy was superb tonight, the best performance I’ve seen from a Carlisle player in a long time, an inch off one of the best hat-tricks you’ll see.

However, unplayable (another one of those modern day football phrases) - no.

Even if we have the option of extending the contract - if he wants to go he will go and I'm sure he does considering the abuse he has been given by a minority of idiots.

Yeah can’t say the last few weeks has strengthened our argument to get him to stay. Don’t get me wrong, he’s not always firing on all cylinders, but when he is he’s wonderful to watch. Rave reviews from tonight.

Whole fans vs McKirdy thing was simply immature from both fans and McKirdy. It’s potentially going to be a big reason as to why we don’t get to enjoy him next season. We should be celebrating talent whilst we have it.

If you have been correct in judging every player you have watched for the club, perhaps you should apply to be a scout.

Time will tell how good a career he carves out for himself, but even Fergie and Clough made bad judgements at times, shouldn't knock fans for their opinions, everyone is entitled to a view, that doesn't make them bad judges.

I’ve been watching the game long enough and been lucky enough to have seen some of the greats to be able to spot a decent player when I see one. Have also seen us as a club throw away players with talent the likes of Wells springs to mind he obviously had the ability but wasn’t given a chance, something that cost the club big bucks.
As said though everyone is entitled to their opinion and McKirdy doesn’t help himself at times. The talent is there it’s up to him whether he makes progress or falls by the wayside.

Agree he needs "a firm hand" when he's not putting the effort in Beech should pull him off at half time.

By definition then everyone are bad judges, because there is nobody living who has made the right call about every player they have ever seen.

I'd say it depends on how accurate you usually are. If you're predictions about a player are usually accurate but you are wrong about one player, you're still a good judge.

Not sure if this has been mentioned but McKirdy is the FA Cup's top scorer with 5 goals.

Thomas is joint 6th with 3 goals.
