Pressley would coach any quality out of Virgil Van Dijk.

Webster has been shit, but so have most of the defenders. Maybe he’ll come good again under a half decent manager, if the club ever sees sense and fire Pressley.

The way Hayden attacks his headers is likely what we all though Webster would be like...

Playing in a good settled defence has made a huge difference to Websters game, yesterday being his best performance of the season.

I think Webster and McKirdy would add a lot to the squad if they stay next season, but i believe they`ll both be away.

Has anyone else noticed at the end of a game the two of them don`t come across to the fans but stand in the centre circle and give a little polite applause and off they go.

In McKirdys case this is down to abuse from some idiot fans, but Websters down to constant criticism from fans and total unwarranted criticism from JP on Radio Cumbria earlier in the season.

A lot of the reason he was so poor under Pressley is because he was expected to pass it around at the back Barcelona-style.

If you had asked Danny Livesey to do that he would have had a nightmare as well.

Not unwarranted tho was it....the guy cost us at least 15 points and that's being generous. He looks an angry man at times, but dont think he can complain at criticism

Pleased things seem to be turning around for him.
It must be difficult for any player to go through the kind of spell he did. Especially at a new club.

Webster was kept in the team by both Pressley and Beech because he offered experience to a young and inexperienced defence , yes he made some shockers and deserved criticism from fans but not from James Phillips.

JP after one perticular game said ..."How bad has Webster to be to get dropped from this team"... James Phillips is a commentator not an analyst. Lummy who is the analyst and an ex player did not and would not make such a comment .

Can you imagine what Mouriniho would say if a BBC interviewer said that about one of his players.

Sammy I agree not very professional from JP but only what everyone was thinking and saying. You talk about his experience that got him picked every week, but that defending week in week out would embarrass school boys.
When Webster scored the other week, some wag on Twitter said well his goal difference now stands at -21.

Anyway something seems to have improved but as said he may have had a hand in yesterday's Swindon goal!!!

Really!! He was the only player who actually tried to get a block in.

Surprised people on here haven't had a go at Nathan Thomas for not clearing the ball off the line.

Actually quite amazes me that when some people 'have it in' for a player, then they can never, ever see the good things he does.

Webster is just doing basic defending. You’d think he’d turned into Bobby Moore they way people are eulogising on here.

Well if fans have it in for players its generally because they see something to criticise them for that happens regularly, without seemingly not paying for mistakes by being dropped......while others who make odd boobs, or dont get the same quota of appearances, get dropped asap

Webster made a lot of mistakes early on and this will hamper his full time and Carlisle ,it's seems once our fans have their mind made up then nothing they do can change it .

Nobody’s eulogising, why exaggerate Nobby? They’re just giving credit where it’s due, you should try it sometime.

Absolutely - give credit when it’s due. I’m sure BW himself will tell you that his performances in the first half of the season were not up to standard.

He may well be a bit pissed off with criticism that he’s had, but that’s part of being a footballer. As mentioned earlier, I’d like to see him (and McKirdy) engage with the fans more now, show a united front, the fact that they distance themselves does them no favours.

I'll defend JP here.

If a player has been terrible then I prefer for him to say it how it is rather than pussyfooting around the facts - he should do it more often as it gives a more balanced view.

It's not like he was wrong.
