Pounewatchey was never on trial. He played a friendly under a false name and signed for the club afterwards.

Stefan Whately was the name he played under

Weird name to choose for him. Some obscure reference to Kevin Whately's acting career or did they just stick a pin in the Radio Times?

Maybe a reference to Jody Watley, as in 'I'm Looking For A New Club'.

Correct decision I think

Duffus no better than Branthwaite from what I’ve seen.

Reeves miles off being good enough for this level.

Buckley-Ricketts. Think there’s definitely a player there but have doubts that we’ll get enough out of him at this moment in time.

Back to the drawing board. We need at least 4 players signed within the next 2 weeks. Over to you Holdsworth, time to prove you’re not completely useless.

Correct decision but ultimately it's been a waste of time for all concerned. Comparatively small number of triallists and none were good enough - poor scouting/quality control.

Yeah I'm really pleased they are not signing players for signings sake, Duffus by all accounts was a shoe in, friendlies have maybe found him out, plus as mentioned Branthwaite coming through.

But........we do need players in, loans taking longer than expected but they are still confident, they will be fit enough, just nice to bed them into the squad earlier.

I still feel we need a couple of proven players we push the boat out for on 2 year deals!

Duffus had a mare last night. Just one of them where he couldn't seem to get anything right, then he got clattered.

Reeves I thought looked sharp last night, so find that a strange one in our situation.

Buckley-Ricketts last night was interchanging with Kerr which of them would be the centre forward to go and get thumped through the back of by their centre halves. Hardly a fair reflection on his ability to be honest.

I was willing Reeves to do well because of his goalscoring record.

But he's had the opportunity he hasn't done it. If he can't muster a goal in two halves against Penrith or Chester when he's fighting to earn a contract, would you back him to come on and score in the last 15 minutes when we need an equaliser at Bradford or Swindon?

Pretty contradictory Marko - if Keith Curle is not good enough to be our manager then why would we want the players that he is trying to offload at his new club? :)

"On 13 July 2018, Morias signed for EFL League Two side Northampton Town on a two year contract for a undisclosed 6 figure fee"

Doesn't sound too bad a player but as they paid a lot for him then the best we could look at there I reckon is a loan deal, his wages must be massive - I cannot see him ripping up his lucrative contract to come here for peanuts for a year.

I rated Keith as our manager but I wouldn't be happy with us going to him cap in hand now that he is Northampton manager taking all his rejects, and after Holdsworth slagging him off at every opportunity then he will probably give us a pile of shite on big money.

It was Kilmarnock, at Brunton Park, 27th July 1996.

The games Tommy mentions earlier, were the following pre-Season in 1997, we played St Mirren, Ayr and Livingston all Away within a week or so at the end of July (We also played at Ayr in 1996)...

Aye we could do, but they’ll likely just want rid full stop.

Jake Jervis had a decent little spell here in 2012, on Loan from Birmingham, scored 3 in about half a dozen games if I recall?

The infuriating thing for me is that we employ someone solely for recruiting players and the ones he tracked most turned out to be not good enough and he binned them.

We did better at recruiting players long before Holdsworth came on the scene.

Technically he is someone who darts between Asda, Morrisons, Tesco and Lidl to check who sells the cheapest bread - problem is that this [censored] can give you the price for them all but brings home no bread.

0 goals in 20+ appearances in the National League / National League North last year.

I can only assume we're having a look due to his 'pedigree'

Worrying if this is the only type of trialist we can attract.. makes Storey and B.Ricketts careers look a whole lot better!

Not that I thought we should keep him but we released R.Bennett ffs who has scored plenty more goals at a similar / higher level? This is just getting bizarre.

Holdsworth really is a shower of shit. Unless he pulls something out of the bag by then he should be ashamed to show his face at the Crawley game.

Wasn’t Pressley’s biggest fan last season but feel sorry for him now. He is being failed so badly by him.

However poor it could conceivably be at the current rate, it is going to be very difficult to level any real criticism at the manager (any manager) if he is given such a low quality, threadbare squad to work with and at such short notice.
It was made clear last season that Pressley thought that they weren't fit enough to play the way he wants them to, now his contract has been renewed, obviously based on future plans around this way of playing and he's going to be given a maximum of 2 weeks to do all the fitness work on any incoming largely ramshackle bunch of misfits and unwanteds.
Doesn't matter though, For whatever reason John Sheridan will probably bare the brunt of the blame for this season when it goes to $hit.

Why are we defending the manager?! He has had since Christmas to reignite his contacts, scout players to sign or loan. He knew what the budget would be when he signed a contract. If he lined up 20 potentials and almost all of them have refused him then he only has himself to blame.

He waited until the 11th hour in January for Yates who didn't come. A decision that cost us a place in the play offs and a couple of hundred grand. If he repeats his error this window he should be gone

Is player recruitment solely left to Pressley, if so I agree with you.
However is it? I genuinely don't know although I doubt it.
Surely that is the role of the Director of Football? I assume that Pressley will have known the budget and will also have presented a list of possibles to the DoF at the same time, who agreed to employ and extend his contract based on his (DoF's) ability to go out and make them happen (within the budget) . Otherwise, it suggests that no one is doing their job!

Pressley has nothing to do with the financial side of the deals...

I suspect he’s probably on plan Y and Z by now. Holdsworth seems to have f-ed up / failed to sign that many players we must be that far down the list, hence us still bringing in low pedigree trialists 2 weeks before the season starts.

It must be so frustrating for Pressley being let down so much by that clown.
