Good, cos he’ll be playing on Saturday with Christie Elliott picking up that groin injury.

From reading Pressley’s comments on him on the O/S, he seems a determined lad...

One real positive yesterday was Hayden’s performance, how had Pressley not been playing him?

Solid, wins his headers, great tackles, aggressive and always challenging when we have corners (when was the last time we had someone who looked a threat from set pieces?)

My man of the match yesterday, even his passing looked better. That tackle in the first half though! Like the dambusters

I’d guess if Webster wasn’t stood down he’d still have been starting yesterday.

Apparently he is on sod all money and was signed as a squad/project player to make up the numbers, the only way he would have got a game under Pressley would have been in the cup, suspensions or injuries.

He would probably jump at the chance of another year on a half decent wage.

Nah I'd give him another 2 years in summer I can see him being a key squad member in fact he looks like a future captain for somebody he has potential to be a Richard Keogh type fans favourite imo

I know he's only played a handful of times and scored once but I reckon if he becomes a starting regular he'll score a few from set pieces.
He looked far more likely to get on the end of something than many of his colleagues ever do.
This is an area we have been sorely lacking in recent times.

Though Elliott did well when he came on at half time.

A Queens fan told me Elliot was always outstanding for Partick when they played them.

I think a left-back who can defend is a priority if not the most important position we need to strengthen. New LB, Hayden, Mellish and Jones I think would be a steady back 4. Then we'll have a platform to attack from.

We were offered Jake Carroll when he was at Hartlepool, wish we'd taken him

Think that's great news tbh, best centre back still at the club (although yet to see what Hunt can do), signed on for another year and an option for one beyond that.

Had maybe hoped for a new signing but think this is positive news none the less

As poor as our defence has been, Hayden looks good AND he always wants to attack balls when we have corners too, he's only 23, so potentially a bit of a prospect for us. Much better at CB than RB.

Also, that's two players now contracted to the end of next season??

Glad he's signed - looks like he can play at a higher level - hopefully with Carlisle. He was excellent at Cardiff.

Out of interest which players so far haven't signed a contract extension whose contract runs out at the end of the season?

Funny how your life can turn around sometimes, take Hayden for example who was on peanuts and with Pressley not even putting him on the bench he couldn't even put himself in the shop window and it looked like he would be one of those project players like McQueen and Nabi that drift into non-league.

Fast forward a few weeks and he is a regular starter in a League Two side getting great reviews and man of the match awards and to top it off a brand new spanking improved contract and a future in the game.

Sweet :)
