Looking at those stats on the link, rough average of 3 yellows a game...

Anyone know the bonus scheme this year?

Is it still £25 for a yellow and £50 for a red. I've just made that up but you would think so the way they dish cards out these days for minimal contact in what was once a contact sport but sadly not anymore.

I like statistics, and like to know how far the ref has travelled to officiate at games.
Soccerbase, EFL website used to tell you where the ref was from, but no longer do for newer refs.
Can anybody give me a link, listing referees and the town/area they're from.

He was Derbyshire FA ref of the year in 2016 so must come from down that area. Seems to be quite young.

He's not the best ref to be honest, between him and the linesman could have cost us the game. I'd like to see the replay when they scooped the ball back into play. I'm sure that was over the line. But we need to sharpen up and take the chances we had. Roll on Barnsley Tuesday night, be my first visit .

I always think the refs are crap and I’m not changing my mind today.

Totally inconsistent with his bookings. Tossed a coin whether the defender was climbing or attacker backing in, gave them many fouls he didn’t give the other way.

I rate him 2/10. He needs to go back to the conference for extra training

A very good sign pal after a few ales and a win - the next game isn't as important imminently as you enjoy the lovely summers evening.

There is still a lot wrong with the club but I love a win :)

Very poor performance today from the ref.
Normally admire refs so I'll give him the benefit of doubt and put it down to him being nervous on his EFL debut.
Sending off was correct decision, but don't think the ref saw it until his assistant advised him.

Thought the ref was poor. When Jones beat his man, who then grabbed him round the waist to stop him going past, how is that not a yellow card? They could easily have had a couple of more yellows. The paddock linesman was also useless. The ref, at least 20 yards away, gave us a free kick for a blatant foul which was a yard away from the linesman ( sorry, assistant referee ) who never even signalled.

It was great watching the game yesterday and the EFL highlights without bloody VAR. There'll be one or two mistakes granted but just let the ref referee the game.

He wasn't brilliant yesterday, but at least he tried to let the game flow by playing advantage a few times. Also pulled back one of their players for a yellow card once the ball went out, having played advantage, which refs don't do enough.

He was certainly better than some refs that have 10 years+ FL experience!

We might not have had VAR but we still get lengthy stoppages in play for no particular reason.
Game loses all momentum. They need to sort that out.

I thought he was ok if a bit pucky and card happy.

Played a good advantage which led to one of our goals.

I didn't see the penalty shout - was it when Thomas went down? Looked soft to me.

Yes I looked at the ball it went straight so Thomas dives (wasn’t booked) or he was caught I also thought Crawley had a good shout for a penalty (hand ball) too when Elliott cleared at the back post in the first half

Thought the ref was fine personally, could have maybe played a few more advantages but on the whole he seemed to let the game flow quite well. Thomas’s wasn’t a pen, he was looking for it. The ball didn’t cross the line, it was pretty clear on the highlights and on a still I saw on twitter afterwards. The only real talking point was the sending off which didn’t affect the game at all as it was so late in the day, never a sending off in a million years but it looked as though it was the lino’s call, the ref was just acting on his observations I’d say.

Some folk are obsessed with refs on here, I’d rather concerntrate on the performance of the team!

He sent off Hallam Hope in the 0-0 game at Cambridge back in the 15/16 season, then Mark Ellis got sent off at the end in the same match, so he was on my list of ones to watch for a while.

Seems to have settled down a bit now though, we haven't had a red card off him since that I can remember, plenty of yellows though.

Carl Boyeson went on my "list" in March 2003, when he sent of Mark Birch, meaning Mark missed the LDV final at he Millenium Stadium. Nothing I have seen since has meant he has been crossed off the list and I can't help but hope this is his last season.

I'm not saying he made a lot of mistakes today, in fact mostly he played it by the letter of the law. He stopped the game every time a player held their head, he blew up constantly.

He turned the match into something that reminded you of football but played out more like a game of basketball, where the whistle goes every minute and there are more stoppages than action. A boring boring spectacle, that left me thinking I had a hundred things to do and many would have been more interesting than sitting at Brunton Park.

So well done to Mansfield, they played the professional game with skill and determination and they suckered the referee into playing their games. They deserved their 3 points but it's not a brand of football I want to watch.

That second goal came about after the ball hit the ref apparently.

New rule: If the ball touches the referee (or another match official) and goes into the goal, team possession changes or a promising attack starts, a dropped ball is awarded
