The ‘Edit’ facility is now Locked

Oh heck,total disaster for me, I always post first edit later on here, enjoy the freedom of not having to worry about typos on a messageboard.

So you are going to get loads of typos, or loads of formatting carried across from Word. Idiots!!! - the folk who ruin things, not admin.

Yeah me too... didn't realise when my edit to FAO Lummy thread came up as another post.

The few have ruined it for the many. When folk are editing a post over an hour later to suit arguments, it’s exploiting a tool that should be used for minor mistakes...

Why not leave it open for five or ten minutes after posting to correct small errors?

Can't say I've noticed tbh would it not have been better to slap out a 24 hr ban +name the culprit each time manipulative editing occurs.
The edit button is kind of important in this age of predictive phones and tablets where mistakes often happen.

Yeah it clearly isnt going to work

The Lashers board AVFTT has some weird stuff in place that kicks in when you try to do an edit. It lets you correct spelling mistakes but once you start to delete passages of text it kicks you out of the edit it also seems to be time affected as well.

As Alan says the best way would be anyone you catch materially altering a text to affect the flow of a thread just return the text to what it oriinally said and stick a nice red warning on to let them know theyve been sussed.

A five minute limit on editing would be better as it would give you time to spot and change any typos and make required edits

We need the edit function otherwise all of Happyblues posts will read similar to this "lkasdj laskjldaj ang psdkjdfas,j sdakljsadfl!".

I have more episodes than Coronation Street.

surely in the admin panel their is an option to allow edits until a new reply is made this would have been a better option
