Colin - 6 Not his best performance in a Carlisle shirt, opted to punch instead of catch a few time, and was possibly at fault for their first goal.
Iredale - 6.5 Did nowt wrong, but sometimes I think you need a bit more from full backs
G Jones - 7.5 Excellent again
Webster - 6.5 A real Jeckyl and Hyde performance, looked decent one moment and very average the next, though he was at fault for their 3rd
Mellish - 7 Had a really decent game, a much better centre half than a left back.
M Jones - 7 Not his best game but huffed and puffed all night long
Watt - 8 Really like this lad, kept it simple didn't do out daft and gave bollickings to people around him, if he thought they could do better.
Scougal - 6.5 Just too light weight at times, although there is a decent player in there somewhere
Thomas - 7.5 Another good battling performance without really hitting the heights
MCkirdy - 9 Two superb goals, should have been another when he hit the bar, people that gave him stick earlier in the season should really give themselves a bloody good shake, lets hope we can keep him for next season, but I have my serious doubts.
Hope - 7.5 One of his better games

Subs All did reasonably well, but I was especially impressed by Charters, looked strong and confident, and hopefully we'll see more of him before the end of the season.

Ref - 1 A complete and utter DICK

Beech - 8 Got them playing some good upbeat football, sort out that defence and next season could/should be much better.

Crowd - 4,300 ????????? Yea right looked much nearer to 5,500/6K to me

Trying my best to not hype this group up again after a brilliant performance...

Starting XI:

Collin 5 - one smart save but overall poor, could’ve done better on three goals

G. Jones 7 - assured
Webster 4.5 - no comment
Mellish 7 - dominant
Iredale 6 - smart attacking work, done a few times defensively

Jones 6 - steady
Watt 8.5 - mature performance, refreshing leadership qualities
Scougall 6 - decent

Thomas 8 - always dangerous, great finish
Hope 5 - quite hopeless
McKirdy 9 - get him sold for big money

Substitutes:
Loft 6 - effective
Olomola 5 - ineffective
Charters 6.5 - looked great

Collin 4 - woeful display, suspect for certainly 2 maybe 3 of the goals

Iredale 6.5 - decent game
Webster 6.5 - sone good blocks needs to more dominant in the air
Mellish 5 - lost every header, looked shaky
Jones 6 - steady away

Scougall 6 - good first half, great effort on goal, disappeared second half
Jones 6 - worked hard
Watt 8 - excellent, dominated play, total reversal from Saturday

Thomas 7 - best game for a long time
Hope 6 - good without the ball, woeful with it, first touch was terrible tonight, no presence up front
McKirdy 9 - superb, caused torment, two great finishes and unlucky with his best effort

Loft 5 - not dominant enough, poor first touch too often
Olamola 5 - poor
Charters 6 - looked really promising

Just goes to show how different people see different things ratings, like the team somewhat inconsistent.

Only saw the highlights but how can Mellish get a good rating when he lost 2 headers for 2 goals?

Headers a Kev Gray or Danny Livesey certainly would not have lost...

My thoughts entirely triskelion, although it was 3 of the goals he was beaten on. All Webster’s fault though apparently!

4th goal it looked like Mellish was given a nudge by the Cardiff player but Webster made a feeble attempt to stop the goal scorer.
Probably cant blame Webster too much for the other 3 as he was watching play pass him by.
He is a total liability & needs shipping out asap!

I always enjoy reading other members ratings - it's interesting how we all see things differently - and footys a lot about opinions isn't it.

Collin 4 - poor for first gaol and, as I've said before, I just can't understand why he is captain. At half time he trailed off and didn't say a word to anyone. A captain should be geeing players up. I don't think it's in his nature to do that and the sooner someone else is given the responsibility the better.
G. Jones 6 I really like him and am a big fan but I thought he struggled a bit defensively. It can't help him being switched back and forward from LB to RB time and again
Webster 5 a couple of great blocks but he is just not dominant the way someone of his experience ( and height ) should be
Mellish 5 needs a run of games to get more settled in CB role, his best position
Iredale 5 wholehearted but not up to it defensively, the first requirement of a defender
Jones 7 as I've said before, not the player he was before injury, but you always get 100% from him, no hiding away or opting out of responsibilities. A few would do well to adopt the same attitude
Watt 8 Very impressed, comfortable on the ball, well balance, tired towards the end but when he gets fitter looks a promising prospect
Scougall 5 wholehearted but too lightweight for lower league football, seems to me as if he is used to more time and space which he will not get at L2 level
Thomas 7 lovely goal and some good crosses, still a bit of a prima donna and takes the pet when he doesn't get a decision. Just get up and get on with the game
Hope 6 certainly a bit more effort than usual and did well to get the cross in for the first goal. Why can't he put the same effort in every week.
McKirdy 9 wonderful performance and two great goals. I can understand his frustration when the ref ( who was awful ) made a bad decisionbut complaining that much is bound to lead to a yellow. he has to learn to be more professional and just shrug those sort of thing off.

Cardiff's persistent fouling from most of their team, yet no bookings, apart from the one in stoppage time, made me think of when this occurs in Rugby Union. Consistent infringements in RU mean the whole team becomes culpable and the next offence, even if it is the first offence by that particular player, gets a yellow card.

The team seams to play better with Watt just in front of the back four. He is there to receive the ball and is quick to see a pass forward.
It suits Mike Jones to play further up, where he can put pressure on the opponents midfield and can find space to receive the ball when we have it. Better than being the holding player where he tends to pass sideways or back, thus slowing down our attacks..
