The issue is apparently they've bought 3.5 million and once they accept them they have to pay for them and if it then turned out they didn't work or weren't reliable they'd just go in the bin including the cases and packaging etc. So what the NHS have done is in effect take responsibility for the entire testing which they're doing on NHS healthcare workers some of who have previously had positive covid 19 tests and are taken as having had it but are now recovered it seems the issue at the minute is there's been a small number of negative tests that should have come back as positive. They've now taken delivery of another batch to do a whole load more testing on.

I.ll ask the question tonight when my lady in the know calls in for a coffee when she visits one of her patients up the road.

Told tonite that a whole new regime started today and healthcare workers are visiting other HCW.s who are currently at home having reported symptoms to test them to get a determination Beginning to look like its not physical facilities that are the issue but trained staff.

I can work from home,it's my families reaction that pulls at the heart strings.

2 sons at home, both looking to move out this week, one of them taking a shower what appears to be every other hour, the other walking around opening doors with his elbows, bless em.

Youngest daughter keeping well away, which is really hard because we have her two girls 3 days a week normally ,one is 6 the other nearly 2.

Eldest daughter and 4 grandkids also keeping away.

I am normally glass half full and am sure 99% on here will get through this, but one thing hit home at the weekend.

While flicking through the channels on Sky came accross ''Finding Nemo''.Last time I watched that the 6 year old was cuddled up against me.

I don't want any sympathy because people went through much more than we are going through in WW2.

However, the one particular cruel thing about this virus.

When you get to our age you accept your odds are shortening, however when I go out I would like my family around me, not stuck on my own somwhere.

In the meanwhile, count your blessings, there will be vulnerable people out there, maybe going through cancer or recovering from the recent floods, or God forbid both, they are the ones who need the support.

Keep safe people, I want to be arguing and winding up people for years to come.

At the end of the day the one thing that bonds us together is the love of our team, when this is over lets hope for the dawn of a new era.

The other thing to take from this is, obviously boredom is a killer.

Great post mate. We took our one period of exercise via me dads bungalow today. He was delighted to see my lad although me son was a bit upset he couldn’t give him a hug.

Just remembered tonight Wednesday ( yes,i know it's April Fools ) is also the aniversary of my wifes dads death, it will be the first time in 35 years she won't be visiting the grave, however thank God we live in the UK with the NHS not like US where the poorest will inevietbly die or worse still, imagine the hell of living in some of the slums in India if it takes hold there.

Totally agree that one of the worst things about all this is not being able to connect with family and friends as it’s a big part of the quality of your life.
FaceTiming or video calls are better than nothing but can’t make up for proper contact like hugs from children and grandkids its heartbreaking at times. Especially when you’ve no idea how long it will before you can reconnect.
Even worse for those who are losing people and not able to be with them in their last hours.
Be safe all and pray this nightmare will be over soon.

Have to book a telephone appointment now with UC. Neverending waiting on telephone.

So I thought [censored] it I'll wait for this 80% of earnings payment for self employed whenever that might be.

You don't want UC nobby. I've regretted it and best thing is to wait for the grant. They've even come out with the cheek that I wasn't self-employedwhilst I've been registered with HMRC and the local council to do me out of coin even though I've been working for myself and paying my taxes for at least eight years.

A govt policy I reckon so you are ineligible for the grant to claim for lost earnings.

It's more trouble than it's worth. I truly wish I hadn't signed up for it but I took govt advice.

I’m not sure what the score really is with UC, I’ve a mate in Liverpool tried to get on it after the bottom fell out of his business overnight.
When he tried to get on to UC they more or less told him that as he’d closed his business he’d therefore made himself unemployed and thus wouldn’t be eligible...no idea if they were just not arsed to deal with it or if that’s a requirement, I’m not sure how else he could have given he’s self employed.
The system as was just isn’t really geared up for the self employed to use it.

The 80% of earnings thing I think is a retrospective supplement.
Our accountants have been dog turd for years with their service, but since this kicked off they’ve been brilliant.
They say we need to pay as normal, the 80% of wages then by June the government “portal” will be up and running, it’ll backdate and you’ll get everything you’ve paid back via HMRC.
They’re hoping the make it a particular type of “gateway” so it’s allowed for your accountant to provide everything on your behalf but if they make it an individual Style one they won’t be able to do that...

Not much of that makes sense to me about gateways and portals (sounds like a bad day on Captain Pugwash) I’m not fluent in David Brent that’s why we pay an obscene amount yearly for accountants, but it looks like we’ll have to batten down the hatches and ride it out until these things are up and running, then claw back what we can before the pot runs out.

The £10,000 grant money for micro business with No Rates or SBRR went live in Northumberland a few days ago.
Boris said it would be paid by government directly to those in that category, no need to contact anyone, you’ll just receive it if eligible.
In Northumberland you need to contact the county council who are administrating it and fill out a claim form online otherwise you won’t get it....
If NCC can make it more awkward, they will. I’d assume CCC are likely to do the same, I’d contact them rather than wait.

It's better to be silent and assumed a fool than to speak and remove all doubt

You can see the nervousness now for the politicians. Dominic Raab was sweating yesterday like he was in a sauna. Poor Michael Gove was so on edge he ended up cracking an inadvertent joke about when the peak would come - it won't be a fixed date like Easter.

Sadly the next 7 days could see some bad daily death figures on a par with Spain and Italy despite the number of new infections plateauing. It's important that everyone keeps up the social distancing and does everything they can to avoid catching this virus.

The lag effect suggests maybe double the numbers of fatalities now.

Good news is if you haven't got it within the next week or so your gonna be a lots safer than you where before lockdown.
