Colin - 7 Didn't really have a great deal to do, looked a lot more solid than Saturday
Anderton - 7 Solid, and made some great runs forward
G Jones - 7 As above
Hayden - 9 IMO man of the match again, had the guy he was marking in his top pocket 90% of the game.
Hunt - 7.5 Not MOM (sponsors decision) but nevertheless an awful lot better than Saturday
M. Jones - 7 Back to his consistent best tonight
Watt - 6 Still not quite up to where he was a few weeks ago but nevertheless 100% better than Saturday
Bridge - 7 One of his better games for us
Alessandra - 7 Buzzed around all game
Kayode - 8 Was menacing all game, never let their back four settle
Patrick - 8 Full of running, and was a complete pest for their defenders

All subs - 7 None let anybody down.

Ref -3 Abysmal from start to finish, for both sides.

All in all a decent game nearly completely spoiled by a dick of a ref (when has he ever had a good game when refereeing us?)
Thought we controlled 80% of the game, however a couple of sloppy mistakes could have let them back in, rode it our fairly comfortably in the end, and to be honest even if they still had 11 men on the pitch I still think we would have won.

Yes agree with most of that, except I thought Collin still had a few "moments" first half, he definitely seems reluctant to come out as much these days.

A good all round team performance. I thought the front three played well together. Hunt was nothing special in the 1st half but played very well in the 2nd. He is a young lad who will hopefully improve with experience. Hayden was my MOTM by far. I thought there were times when we were poor in winning the lose ball. We still gave the ball away a bit too easily at times and would have been punished by a better team. M Jones and Watt still giving the ball away a bit too much but Jones is so good at tidying up and a calming influence, always available to help out. Watt is perhaps a bit jaded after so much pitch time and needs to get a bit fitter. I still feel communication lets Collin down but pleased to see an improvement from him after Saturday. If we'd taken a few of our 2nd half chances it might have given Beech a chance to give Dewhurst a run out. Bridge did better than usual but will need to see more of the same if he is to be kept on at the end of the season.

Regarding the officials the ref and lineswoman on the paddock side were poor. But to be honest no worse than we've seen most of the season. Saturday's ref was consistently conned by the dying swan act from most of Colchesters' players. ( Don't know how he only got 3 mins stoppage time in the 2nd half with all the subs - Colchester's Pell was down for at least 2 mins and there were 3 more lengthy stoppages for so called injuries )

All in all a good response to the previous abysmal performance.

Beech would be stupid to put Dewhurt in untill after the international break.

Hed drop Colin for 3/4 games to then need him back. Let Colin play till dewhurst goes away with the U19 then give him some games, post international

I would drop his rating to 6.....nearly an assist for a missed chance for Newport in the 2nd half

Think we’ve actually played better and lost this season, last night was the best example I’ve seen for the importance of first goal in this leauge. If they scored it would of been a very long and tedious evening they were content to sit in all night if they could.

Colin -7 didn’t do much wrong.
G Jones -7 didn’t have much to do.
Hayden - 7.5 MOTM absolutely schooled Amond and Matt.
Hunt -6 game that suits him, but still extreamly vulnerable when a man runs off or at him.
Anderton - 7.5 solid as ever threat in both boxes, excellent leader, always wants the ball. Can’t see behind him or Hayden for the armband next season. Best left back we’ve had in many years.

Watt-7.5 back to his usual influential self after a couple of poor games.
M Jones -6 not his type of game, but kept running.
Bridge -7.5 best game for Carlisle.
Alessandra -6.5 keeps battling away, just doesn’t deliver anything. Was noticeable how our attacking threat disappeared when Kayode came off and Alessandra went through the middle.
Patrick -7 took his goal very well, just doesn’t seem to have a final ball, got to the bie line an awful lot like Saturday and his cross was found lacking.
Kayode-7.5 easy night for the lad, they looked terrified of his pace, nice to see our CF snatch the ball at a penalty. Most impressive thing I thought was how he got Inness sent off. Yes it was a red, but at times this season we’ve got back up too fast and given the ref an option to bottle it. - need more of this.

Subs:
Thomas - 7 - lively, think he has a field day if he starts.
Charters & Ierdale not on long enough.

Beech - got the tactics right, yes they were poor, but no one remembers how you get 3 points. Ideally get a result v Orient, (bit of a feel good factor for next season) & certinally in the away games let’s leave those out who won’t be here.

Referee -0 worst ref I’ve ever seen. Was obvious he was never gonna give another pen after the first one, but the rest of his game was still abysmal.

On the whole, not the best game of football we’ve had this season but 3 points is all that matters. What’s pleasing is it’s a game I think the majority of players could of gone up a level if required. Nice to be winning games with 6’s & 7’s rather than a clear standout performer.

Looking forward to seeing Kayode play a few games. Hayden and Hunt didn't have much to do after their player was sent off. You would have hoped we would push on and get a third and fourth. Few decent runs by bridge but he is not good enough for a push at the top of the division

Not quite sure how it can be said that Patrick took his goal well, when it took an almighty deflection to go in?

Well I was amongst the 4,000-5,000 other souls who wasn’t there, so I couldn’t possibly comment, you could seek the opinion of the three horsemen?
