Read that the premier league have reserves of £1.5billion. Can this be right?
Puts a bit of a different slant on things in tersm of propping up the lower leagues.

Barnet have made all 60 non playing staff redundant ....the owner is calling on the PL to create a rescue fund for lower league clubs...
I know its Barnet, but that's bad news.

Simon Jordan was on talksport and he's worked out the Championship, L1 and L2 clubs will lose around £40m in total because of the season being cut short. Small change to the Premier League if those reserves are to be believed.

Chances of the PL showing sympathy to the lower leagues is pretty miniscule or it'll never happen. Hopefully EWM will keep our heads above water. Problem could be is that fans find something else to fill their Saturdays. Me, I'm still gonna pop down the Beehive this coming Saturday, maybe not as early though

They shouldn't be including the championship clubs the vast majority have owners who if not able to provide the cash themselves can certainly get access to loan funds. Spend it where it's needed in Lges one and two and the National Leagues below that the players don't really have financial contracts meaning the clubs can just release them losing the biggest part of their outgoings so in most cases they will be in a better position than most.

Went to the Leeds game on the train last Saturday, and was looking forward to the Fulham game this week. Probably a blessing for my recovery, but downside is no sport on the box to amuse me.

I dont think climbing the wall is a food idea, if you’ve had a knee operation.

If our season is over I wouldn't lose any sleep over that. I think they will either have to complete the season or involve those teams with something at stake into some sort of play off.
Maybe have next season reduced to incorporate playing each team only once home or away. Or if the season could restart in say September, then sacking off the Carabao and EFL trophy would free up a few Tuesdays for league games.

I’ve got a feeling there won’t be many league 2 / National League sides left to complete the season if this goes on all summer. Barnet in the shit will be the first of many.

That clown Alan Nixon is still banging on on Twitter saying the season should start again in June with clubs playing nine games in a month behind closed doors.

After not playing a match for nearly three months.

Instead of restarting the season with a bang (i.e. nine games in a month) there should be a pilot test of say one weekend then assessing the effect before moving on to the next few games.

Social distancing could be around till next Spring rather than September. Most people will get infected now - some on here will already be without knowing it.

Got a txt from the chemist today to say 3 members of staff have become ill and they will have taken more precautions than all of us.

The sooner they get the test to find out who has had it and recovered the better.

So what is happening with businesses in general? They can borrow from the banks, guaranteed by the Government. Can players claim 80% of their wages from the Government?

Loan contracts are automatically cancelled? So the wages for Thomas, Watt et al pass back to their clubs?

Still, nothing for the self-employed?

Barrow have spent the longest time up there at the top so they be fuming if they get shafted.. any club would be tbhn

Sensible option is to simply void the Season, like they did 1939/40 due to WW2. Yes, it’s tough on those top of the Leagues, but in the grand scheme of things it’s not the end of the World.

Plus it’ll be hard to get League’s going again - Do you need a mini pre-Season? Player contracts legal minefield? Knock-on into the next Season? All questions that are incredibly hard to work out!

Any chairman (Hi Peterborough!) threatening legal action at a time of national crisis should be embarrassed by their actions...

As Mark says it is not yet time to make that decision. If this epidemic drags on it could be into 2021 before the football could resume. Better to finish the season then than having two void years.
