V E DAY. was created by ParcelPete
Instead of doing my usual 10000 steps in the countryside i thought i would walk round the estates to see the flags and bunting, how dissapointed i was to see maybe 20% of the houses have bothered to put anything up,each to their own i suppose but i for one will be raising a glass at 3pm in honour of our heroes.

Socially distanced Street Party on my Street, flags and bunting all over, Dame Vera through the bluetooth speakers, and an afternoon tea being served soon...

Must admit we havent but keeping to social distancing regulations weve just been a couple of doors down where a bloke has got a brilliant display of memorabilia set out on his drive. Lots of items from British, American and German sides.

Not much decoration out where I live but we've had a lovely socially distanced street party, with bingo and silly prizes and tea and scones.

I had an enjoyable bike ride this afternoon passing through the local villages and was nice to see some great efforts to make this day be a special occasion with the buntings, flags and folk dressing up in 40s attire and having street events as best could be under the current situation...A real positive feel in passing through today...then i get home hoping for listening to wartime tunes outside but instead its party central across the road with music of the shittest order from.a large family ...fecking joys.

40s attire is the norm in West Cumbria.

I’m not keen on parties, clapping etc to be honest in the present climate. Social distancing seems to be forgotten. I am a miserable bar steward it has to be said! :-D

Been out in street singing "We'll meet again" just now with a few of the neighbours. Very moving particularly after a few ales. All of us around 50 and over.
Me and the daughter have been doing the bunting all day and have put them up in the windows .
I've found the whole day to be quite emotional really.

Only us and my next door neighbours were out on our street. Only our houses decorated. Very disappointing. The thing that struck me was that they all come out on a Thursday evening, rightly so, but non of them made an effort to celebrate the reason we have a NHS or indeed our Freedom. I did enjoy the 4 of us doing the social distance conga up and down our street. Tune now stuck in my head... Do Do Do the social distance conga!!! Stay safe

Less bunting, more books.
