About time we had a bit of M83 with Intro from 'Art of Flight' followed by Outro from the 'Melancholia' film soundtrack . Funny how almost everyone only knows them for 'Midnight City'?

Just dug out some old vinyl and put this on from Spear of Destiny.
Quite a big band in Lincolnshire in the 1980s.
Whenever Liberator came on at the Spalding disco it was the cue for me to seek refuge at the edge of the dancefloor as all of the skinheads would fly onto the floor.
If you were too slow you got caught in the mayhem. Scary at the time but remembering with a half smile now.
Kirk Brandon had a great voice and they used the sax very well and if you liked that big, 80s sound it was good stuff.
They played Bedford recently and were surprisingly very good indeed.
Video here with vintage scooter rally footage. Another part of the East Anglian coastal landscape from my youth- Skeggy, Yarmouth, Cleethorpes, Ingoldmells.
Exotic.

I didn't mind Theatre Of Hate or Spear Of Destiny, not my favourites but I had time for them.

A great read is the Boy George autobiography 'Take It Like A Man' and he claims that he and Kirk Brandon were having a liaison at some point and the married Kirk denied this and took it to court and lost.

Boy George paid his legal fees that he could not afford to pay.

It's not bad that.

How about a bit of thrash-alternative-hip-hop with genre busting Enter Shukari and 'Sssnakepit'
Still for me at least one of the best song & video promos in the last ten years. Not 'arf Smashie, let's mosh!

I was gutted when I heard about Keith Flint, of course it is always sad when this happens to somebody but when the person is in the public eye and loved by millions then it is truly shocking as not even all the money in the world can stop their tendencies.

RIP Keith.

Whenever this sort of thing comes up it always makes me think of my pal, he didn't seem the sort and basically said where he was going after leaving a nightclub on Facebook but the area was vast and he knew it like the back of his hand - we were just going to go and join the rescue team as everyone had looked all week and then they found him, he had this hidden little place that was very covered up :(

Great band they are.
I know it's been played to death and we've all heard it a million times but what a piece of musical genius "I'm Not In Love" is.
I'm sure you've seen it, Pete, but BBC4 did a doc on them a while back.
As many bands did they were royally shafted by their manager - Jonathan King - in this instance.

Funnily enough, Laffy, I went to see them in Islington a few years back. Very good indeed.
I know their 154 album but not the rest of their stuff that well.
Just a bit too young to see them back in the day.
Wire do still play occasionally, I think. Well worth going to see them if you can.
I saw Magazine play a year or two before that and both gigs were excellent.
Guess the Stone Roses song influenced by this classic!
