That is fantastic news. Pace, direct and a good finisher and should be better for his time with us last year. Excellent bit of business.

Happy with this, showed enough last season to show he can be an asset.

Funny though that even with a complete overhaul in the management/coaching setup, we still end up with players that we've had before (Gillesphey and Nadesan).

Add Adam Collin to that list SirJimmy. Who's next, Adam Clayton and Ben Marshall........

Great to see Nadesan back although he seemed to save several of his best performances coming off the bench away from Brunton Park - Barnet, Exeter, Yeovil and Cheltenham all spring to mind.

When considering options players are likely to favour clubs where they've had a positive experience before.

With Collin, Nadesan and Gillesphey the location will have suited them, whereas it probably puts off others with no connection to the area.

That'll be Holdsworth's doing, he is doing a fantastic job as director of football ....hmm !!

Thought he was worth signing in the close season...surely there has to be some coinage to get a decent player in like this lad...is it really this bad its got to loan after loan or a freebie short term deal.

Think Fleetwood rate him too, sure they'd be happy to loan him out for 6 months, but not sell him as yet.

At last another option for the forward line. Ground Maintenance better strengthen the bench once Bennett is displaced from the starting line-up.

Good signing.

He should be straight in the starting 11, preferably for Bennett.

I wouldn't get rid of Bennett just because Nadesan has arrived.
Bennett & Nadesan changed the game together at Barnett away last season.

He's on loan.
So he is unlikely to be here next season. Either Fleetwood will play him or sell him on.
OK, we benefit while he is here but it is Fleetwood who'll benefit in the long term.
Ten years ago when the custodians took over where were Fleetwood in the football pyramid?

Get the feeling some folk are rating Nadesan a bit higher than they should. In football terms he’s not a youngster and when he goes back to Fleetwood from his loan spell it’ll probably be make or break for him and given he’d be about fifth or sixth choice forward at the club I can see him moving on to be honest, most probably to a league two club. All this talk of being a championship player is pretty far fetched in my mind, he’s the best of a bad bunch at Carlisle - nothing more I’m afraid.

I think he's done well at Carlisle overall, feeding off scraps and chasing lost causes.

Just read this and decided to check how many players are on loan in League 2
There are currently 90.
Is that enough to classify League 2 as a feeder league?

Lincoln, Newport, Forest Green, Tranmere, Yeovil, Port Vale, Cheltenham and Us (counting Joe Fryer, as he is still classified as on loan to us and can't play for anyone else), each have 6 on loan.
Cambridge don't have any and MK Dons, Colchester, Crewe and Northampton only have one.

No wonder clubs in our league mainly sign free transfers, as a high proportion of players at clubs are on loan and have very few players they can sell on to raise cash., .

Even though Salford have got money it would be a poor career move for Nadesan to drop down to the Conference at his age and at this stage of his career.

By no means guaranteed they'll come up this season either.

Should be looking for a League 1 club at least.

I have absolutely no doubt if we could find the £75 grand, Salford would completely out do us with higher wages for him.

Adam Rooney was 30 when he signed for Salford and his career was past its peak at Birmingham and the SPL. Can totally understand him going for the cash.

Likewise no-one who signed for Celtic Nation had any significant career prospects elsewhere.

Nadesan is 24 and took a long time to get recognized in non-league football to get a chance with Fleetwood. His league career has only just started to take off with us. Salford would be a backward step unless no-one from League 1 or higher is interested.

Everyone said Carlisle would be a backward step for me when I left Barnsley in League 1, turned down Bradford in League 1 and Motherwell in Scottish Prem to join a Conference club.

I joined because Simmo and Fred told me where exactly they wanted to go in the next few years, how they would get there, how they create a buzz and who they were looking to get in if we could get out of the league first time of asking. I was 24, money wasn't everything at that point in my career but they tried their best to get as near as they could to my Barnsley wages who I signed for when they were in the Championship, and I appreciated that effort. Salford will be doing the same.

Nadeson does not have a future at Fleetwood, if it is a choice between us and Salford, then right now its a no brainer.
conference or not, they are going places, enthusiasm from all involved, bigger wages. He could bang the goals in there and move again, or come up the leagues with them.

10 years ago we would have had this signing sewn up, actually with all due respect to Nadeson, he probably would not have got a game with us, but that's where we are.

Agree with that completely, however at 24 he's no spring chicken, the chance at playing at championship or beyond has probably passed him by, so to play 'anywhere' for what will probably be double his wages, then I would think he would have to seriously look at it.

Yep and in his position I’d sign for them. It’s not as if he’s a Cumbrian lad. He’s a southerner who has chosen to make money playing football. If he can make a lot more signing 1 division lower than us then that’s what I’d be doing in his position.

Would you take less money to be a squad/bench player in League 1?

Honestly I don't think he's anywhere near good enough for League 1 at the moment, and I doubt he ever will be. He looks canny for us because we've got very little else to compare him with and he's certainly better than his competition here but that doesn't make him a particularly good player.

In another thread recently I said I think he's a lot like Shaun Miller; he'll do well for a certain club (like us) because of the way he plays but he's the type of player that could easily lose his place and never get it back.

If he does go to Salford in January I'd be surprised if he's first choice for them next season if they gain promotion.

If I was 24 and my career was on the up yes I would take a bit less to play at a higher level.

Taking Salford's offer would be accepting that you've gone as far as your ability will take you, much as Lummy did when he chose come to us after playing for Sunderland and Barnsley!

Plenty of precedents for late-blooming non-league players to go higher - Grant Holt and Glenn Murray were both 25 when they were at Rochdale, Vardy was 25 at Fleetwood.

Nadesan isn't in their league perhaps but I see him as one of those players who would thrive with better quality service than he gets at the moment.
