Not sure if Sol Campbell gets a mention but a timely plug for Ian Wright's documentary, Out Of Their Skin, Channel 4 tonight at 10 pm.

And if ever there was a reason to keep him away from the game its the clip of him on the touchline that the BBC has been playing all day.
Theres only one way to describe him whether you like it or not is Arrogant the sooner somebody gives him a good kicking the better.
I can't wait till somebody prints how little money hes on to show just how desperate he is and i really hope it's their former commercial manager whos services they dispensed with just as he.d put a multitude of fundraising things in place and was due a pay rise claiming they couldn't afford him.

As a player, Campbell won two Premier League titles and two FA Cups with Arsenal and was named in the 2002 World Cup all-star team after helping England to the quarter-finals of the tournament.

Thanks admin, happy for you to remove my post as well as it was purely my reaction to the post that was removed.
To get back on track. At his best I thought Sol Campbell was a hell of a player, both for club and country. unfortunately that seems to be totally irrelevant when it comes to being a manager. Everyone can think of great players who were failures as management, and not so great players who were good managers.
I'd like to see him succeed, because I would like to see a lot more younger British managers succeed and get to the top.

Agree with you about the British manager’s Bumble, although it’s more the English managers I’d like to see do well in the English game, it’s been far too long since we’ve had a top class manager managing a top team in this country, pretty sad really. I feel too many top players choose the easy route into media rather than trying to better themselves in coaching and managing and giving something back to the English game which gave them so much.
However, having said all that I hope Campbell fails miserably at Macclesfield and puts an end to his constant race fuelled whinging. He’s got a very high opinion of himself which isn’t shared by many others, his seems to think he has a right to manage at the top level of the game and has let everyone know this and when all else fails he’s chucked in the race card. The fact is he’s a strange character, with strange views and isn’t very well liked within football, hence why the offer of a job wasn’t forthcoming, nothing to do with the colour of his skin or whatever else.
The FA felt obliged to give him a job helping with the Under-21s simply because he’s moaned that much about black coaches not being given a chance, absolutely pathetic. All this at a time when the England youth system is at its highest point in living memory, the fact the Macc job hopefully keeps him well away from our best chance of success in a generation is a positive in my book.

I reckon if Rio Ferdinand wanted a management job he'd have had it well before now and it certainly wouldn't have been the club bottom of the league.
Him and Campbell have had similar careers so I think it's a reasonable comparison to make. There's something about Sol that's just very unlikable!

Yeovil always looked screwed from the beginning of the year but you would have thought that Notts County would have had enough in the tank to overturn Macclesfield as they were not getting paid and Notts had far better players.
Credit where credit is due, he had no option but to start from the bottom and if he walks away now then his first job was a success and he can hold his head up high - come on lets face it we all expected him to fail or bottle it and quit in a strop after two weeks but he seen it through till the end and it could have ended in disaster on the last day of the season.
He has actually gone up in my estimation.

I thought that he had maybe found his feet but listening to that whole thing made me think that I cannot see him being employed by anyone for very long.
I bet if he was penniless and needed the wage then his attitude would be very different.

Fair enough if it was his idea and his cash then I would say go for it.
Because it isn't though I would just probably laugh at him if I was the owner of Macclesfield.
Not sure of his contract length but they probably couldn't afford to sack him anyhow if he is still in contract so they will have to put up with his eccentric behaviour for a while yet.

Simon Jordan talks a hell of a lot of sense - I used to think he was a right plonker but the more I listen to him the more i like, honest, balanced and articulate - and his comments on Sol were bang on saying he would have sacked him if he were Chairman.

It sounds like a problem with the playing budget. "This has been conducted in the most amicable of ways and there has been total transparency between the club and Sol regarding the challenges which face lower league clubs such as Macclesfield Town."
My guess is that Macclesfield and Morecambe have the two lowest budgets in our league. Rather like Sheridan, Sol has decided that trying to keep the club up on a shoestring budget isn't worth the hassle.

His wife is loaded(Barratt family I think)and the house has turrets-no moat.Used to see him a lot in the village but he keeps himself to himself.
He’s done a good job at Macclesfield so might be eyeing a bigger role-Jack Ross might be on thin ice this season

My mate lives in Macc and says the club are struggling to pay the players. Might be why they've parted company with Campbell.

Six former players have defended their decision to lead a winding-up petition against Macclesfield Town, following criticism in a club statement.
Macclesfield accused the players of "trying to close down" the 145-year-old club, after they used the petition to claw back unpaid wages.
The six, who applied to dismiss the petition once their money had been recovered, said it was a "last resort".
HM Revenue and Customs has now taken over the petition.
The High Court hearing has been adjourned until 11 September, and the Silkmen say they have the funds to resolve the matter before the hearing
It's the club's owners who have put their existence in jeopardy. Not the players. Just pay them what they're owed if they've got the the funds.
