He left Blackpool because they're an absolute Basket Case of a Club, so should fit in here well.

Will probably get hammered for this but if the club are going to do it on the cheap which they propably will I always liked Andy preece when he used to do away games for radio Cumbria spoke well and seemed to know the game very well. Done well at bury ages ago and done well at other teams albeit below where Carlisle are at. Just a thought like. Lummy will know if he's management material and he can be his number 2.. sorted. Ha ha.

If Tommy Wright doesn’t follow Sheridan and does okay next month or so, I’d be happy for him to get it till the end of season despite the cloud hanging over him.

He’s presumably played his part in the recent success and knows the players etc.

Continuity is what's needed now....Tommy Wright and Muzza should be able to carry on what's been started....if the players are happier, if there's been clashes that is, and see where we get to....deal with something more permanent if required in the summe r.

Agreed, we need a bit of stability. But will the board act quick enough before both of them are whisked away to Sunny Chesterfield??

Presuming TW has ambitions of becoming a manager, I suppose this is as good as opportunity as you're going to get.

OR - He likes being a number 2 and if Sheridan is on a pay rise down there, presumably TW would be too. No idea where TW is based, maybe this will be one of those instances where geography could do us a small favour for a change.

One thing is certain, we need a quick resolution to this as January is key. Often makes or breaks teams seasons as key players can be either sold or brought in. Even more so for us with Sowerby, Yates, Gerrard and Nadesan's deals needing to be addressed.

This.

Can’t be fannying about for 2 months again doing 7 million interviews then narrowing down shortlists before doing 3 million more interviews across the length and width of the country.

January transfer window is such an important month. It’s been an absolute disaster January so far even by Carlisle United’s standards.

Key for me here, is it’s January. Mid-Season.

Can’t see us ‘poaching’ another Club, as that would cost £’s. Which we don’t have. Only exception would be a smaller Club (Non-League or Scottish?), which would clearly be a gamble.

So that’s leaves either internal, or out of work.

Internal - Wright and Murray. Depends if Wright follows Sheridan. Would Murray want it? Likely you’d think? Edmondson usually gets his name banded about but he’s likely happy with his lot in the Youth Dept? Wonder if Skelton regrets going!

Out of work - Some of the usual names are in the betting lists, it’s narrowing them down to those who’d be happy with the current situation. DH has mentioned that it’ll be better come Summer mind.

One thing is for sure, we need to act fast, and given the situation with our Squad, we need somebody with contacts who can work a favour or two.

Interesting couple of weeks ahead Blues!

Darrell Clarke who took Bristol Rovers to two promotions has been mentioned.

He said the Bristol Rovers board were 30 years behind the times when he left so I'm not sure what he'd think of our lot!

I don’t think there is a lot wrong with clinging onto the notion that players and managers would show some loyalty towards a club they were involved with.
Then , if you place yourself in the shoes of Simpson, or Sheridan, or any players, you can’t blame them at all for going in for a better opportunity. For players , it’s a short career and being a manager, you can get sacked at any moment.
Personally though from a fans perspective, I really don’t think most of us take it that seriously.
If you thought about it too much, you would realise that it’s a pretty pointless affair watching a bunch of loanees being managed by a journeyman manager.
So, if folk boo ex-players or managers, I am sure most just see it as a bit of banter, I never get why people are so defensive about it.
Everyone likes to have a romantic notion that representing a club means something to managers and players, more than just a job. Pointing out that this is not the case, merely serves to demonstrate why a lot of people find better things they would rather do on a Saturday afternoon.

My deepest concern is what if we get a new manager in who sees Bennett in training and thinks "There's a player in there." And gives him a run of games?

Admittedly I too used to think that, but he's had his runs of games and sadly isn't good enough if we want to actually fight for promotion. Might do a job lower down the table, maybe Keith will be interested?

Hopefully Keith will come in for him as a ‘project’ whilst we’re without a manager.

Was chatting to a guy who has stood a bit in front of me yesterday and he was absolutely livid that we’ve allowed ourselves to go into another window without a manager. Kept rhetorically asking - would you sign for a club if you didn’t know who the manager was going to be?

On that basis here’s hoping for an announcement later today or tomorrow AM...

TW gave a nice positive interview post match, said he likes it at the club and gets on well with DH and AJ.
For simple continuity I'd be quite happy with TW and PM stepping up.
Salary saved on JS's wage could go towards keeping Sowerby or bringing in someone decent. The players are still putting in the performances and they'd all probably be happiest with TW and PM for continuity.
From reading Gerrard's tweet last night I'd say he's off to Chesterfield.

To go through a full interview process ,decide on candidate, negotiations for terms.etc takes time we havnt got.
Players on short term contracts and loan at the club need stability,to attract players in this window we need stability. No manager is going to send loan players here without stability.
For me,offer it to what we have at the club until the end of the season now.Forget about recruiting a manager from outside until the end of the season.
