A Thread for debating who’ll be next into the Brunton Park hotseat!

Danny Grainger has definitely applied.

Well if you say he’s applied then I’m taking that as he hasn’t ;)

You said something like John McGreal was a done deal the other day!

You also said a few days before transfer deadline day that you’d heard that the club wouldn’t be making any more new signings. We then made 3 more…

Various circumstances affect what people decide to do.
Cancer is scary, perhaps Simmo wants to head home to family and Ipswich although undoubtedly better job is a hard journey to Carlisle. It’s not always about the money, although he would probably find it tough on 50 quid a week.
The positive is that he can work well with youth, how many England managers have won a World Cup.
He will have masses of info on so many that have represented but not quite made it after England U20 youth. That is the area the club are developing to make money.
Obviously we already know he is a top manager.
Personally I would be chuffed if he came back. Wouldn’t mind betting he was informed about George Tanner from Man U sources in those England days which got him taken down there.
Coincidental he leaves Bristol when we are told the announcement is soon. Keeps Skelton safe as two Cumbrians in tandem, in fact could be Skelton manager and Simmo assistant giving him less pressure after illness.
All guess work of course but we can hope.

I don't believe these stories he wouldn't work for the current regime, more fake myths. Where has he ever said that?

He did an amazing job last time. The expectation would be enormous if he came back.

Mcgreal dropping out has opened the door for skelton. Lets hope he starts the process by winning today

Totally agree, it’s all rubbish paper talk. I am not happy for Skelton alone, fine with a good support manager which I believe is what Kinder is doing and could well be another option. Would depend on whether Eric would want to, he seems to prefer the youth where he is doing a great job

McGreal said he wasn’t interested apparently and it was a director who said they weren’t making any more signings at that point. Circumstances change.

Grainger has definitely applied though. That won’t change.

Must admit I was hoping for McGreal, he looked good to me.

My opinion on Skelton will depend on whether he sticks with Alessandra today. A bit one dimensional to make a decision like that, but we need to score.

If Hill can be hated by the players but get us to the play-offs I'd take that at the moment. I didn't think Sheridan was a great choice, then we demolished Oldham 6 0.

I don't know about Grainger. Football management is a bit more of a science at L2 level than Workington. Maybe he can raise his level, better than Lee Clarke. Coaches like Thomas Tuchel came out of nowhere building a reputation on statistics and algorithms, maybe Grainger is worth a shot. He just reminds me of Kavanagh a bit too much.

We have to study the facts here. Any good manager is going to have to keep us in league 2 this year but will also want assurances on succession and more importantly
funding to take us to League 1 and beyond.I cannot see how these assurances can be promised from a regime that still seems hell bent on carrying on.The hopes and thoughts of supporters that the current board will go are a pipedream. Particularly JN and AJ.

The alternative and the most likely situation will be that someone that suits supporters but with only very limited experience will probably be next manager and my feeling is that the next manager would need to prepare for non league.

No way we’ll get relegated.
No way we’ll get relegated.

You really need to stop saying that :D

I just can’t see it. It’s not a hopeless situation like last time.

We’ll have more than enough to pull clear with a reasonable manager in charge.

Well if he can't do it on the budget given then he's not for us.

McGreal possibly had a meeting with Holdsworth and thought I'm not working under that charlatan.

Much less convinced that Skelton will get the job after today. Honestly thought and expected us to win which I think would have pushed them into the easy option.

We are a way off being good enough to stay up so this appointment is massive. It has to be right.

Nobody else see Sol Campbell driving out in his 4x4 with Lee Clark in the front, Neil McDonald, Steve Bruce and Robbie Fowler in the back?

Something about a brainstorming session in Foxy’s before doing their psychometric testing?

Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse....
Appointing Clark would be an act of sabotage.

Such an appointment should be met with absolute resistance, not support.

Do you still need to guarantee an interview under the BAME scheme?

A few rumours saying Ince has been interviewed, could be bollocks of course.
Mullen, you aren’t allowed to use the term BAME any more. The commission on Race and Ethnic Disparities report said so.

I’m lost with the whole thing. You won’t be able to say the word person next.
If they appoint Lee Clarke I will never set foot in Brunton Park / travel away, whilst he's there...
Absolute joke if he gets it.
Fully expect him to be announced tomorrow

Christ, an over the top reaction if ever there was…

Have you seen the mans managerial record? Might as well get the Vanarama advertising up now.
