Remember the good old days when we could get Bob stokoe to come and manage us, 7 years after he'd won the fa cup?
That'd be like getting Wenger in now.....

Paul Tisdale’s Wiki claims he’s already our Manager!

I wish! He would be excellent

Would he work with Holdsworth? Managers out there actively advertising they want to work with a Director of Football. Recently updated wiki pages. I can see it happening

Tisdale- Tisdale's uncle is Game of Thrones actor James Faulkner who played Randyll Tarly in the show. Imagine if we could get a dragon

I was just thinking about how we could possibly get someone of the calibre of Bob Stokoe.

I'm not sure Paul Tisdale's clobber would fit in down Botchergate. :D

He did OK at Exeter but it didn't end too well at MK Dons and Bristol Rovers.

Has he ever been North of Bristol?:

The manager with the best stats ever for Carlisle had probably never been north of Watford, this was Mervyn Day

No way Phil Brown is coming in...not enough SunBed Shops in Carlisle to keep his orange tan topped up.

Wouldn't complain at Flynn, he's shown he can do it in this league but I guess Newport aren't run in the same shambolic way we are.

Didn't Westley just have a team of 6ft+ lumps at Stevenage?? Another Hoofball merchant?

GraemeHud apart from when he was a Leeds player maybe

Do you mean apart from the 2 years at Aston Villa and 8 years at Leeds?

Sorry to see CB go, but in the circumstances it was the right thing to do.
Real chance for the BOD to do something positive. Learn from giving the job to someone lacking experience and hand it to someone like Tisdale, or Flynn. Personally, I think it's a no-brainer.
However, I fully expect Danny Grainger, Peter Murphy, or Gavin Skelton to be given it. I like these guys, but it's far, far too soon.
Look what experience (Kenny Jackett) has done for Orient.
Another spin of the wheel... Goodness knows who we'll get next - Just hope it isn't some clown, or another.

Talking of inexperience one of our most successful managers was Alan Ashman who if I remember correctly was manager of Penrith when he was given the job.

And then took us to the top of the English football league, I doubt any of us will ever experience that situation being repeated.

I'm going to apply. I won the Champions League with Bradford city. Proven success at this level. I got a thank you, we appreciate your achievement, when I applied for the manager's job there a few seasons ago. Then they were relegated the next season. Just saying like, maybe time to beak the mould, hasn't gone too well for them since. Portends.

He was wearing a mask and was standing at the opposite end of the platform to me, but I’m pretty sure I just saw Nayim disembarking from a pendalino this afternoon.

Would be quite the leftfield appointment

I wish everyone would stop the weird obsession with bringing back former hero’s. It’s such a strange Carlisle United supporters psyche which is do not understand. They’re more likely to ruin their previous image rather than enhance it.

For me Andy Morrison would be a great option, a really fighter and did a great job with Connah’s Quay. Pete Wild is doing well at Halifax as is Phil Parkinson at Alty. First and foremost DH and NC should evaluate the strengths of the squad and find a manager that complements those.

In a funny way, this is a reply to two parts of your post lol

The guy, though an absolute kicker of a defender dragged City out of their darkest period, they wouldn't have gone up that season if they hadn't signed him and even now people would still give him a role at the club 20+ years later.

Danny Grainger now 11/8 with Bet Victor. Somebody must have put a fiver on.

I have a problem with appointing former CUFC players as managers/coaches - for instance Grainger, Aranalde, Thirwell, etc. Currently these are really popular former players who we would welcome back to the City but if/when their managerial tenure goes pear-shaped then they are not so popular. Look at Simpson - he went from being one of our best managers to being labelled "Judas" in a heartbeat. It may be that some former players would like to be the manager here if it wasn't for how it might end. As we know, the abuse doesn't always stop with the manager but can extend to his family too...

Football can be really cruel.

Well the bookies have Grainger odds on and McGreal up there also (win average 37%)

Would DG take the wage drop and loss of esteem going from being Falkirk assistant coach to CUFC manager?
