Red tarn from low spying how bottled striding edge due to the wind

Great photos - thanks for posting.
Lovely feeling, isn't it, of being out on the tops early on? Feels like you have the hills all to yourself for an hour or two.
Am very envious!
Great photos YB.
Where are you off MRF?
I've been dreaming of the next walk for months and months. Am planning on walking up Eskdale and doing a round of the high fells at the head of the valley.
Can't wait.
Did a great walk on Wednesday, parked just North of Pooley Bridge, went up onto Bartons Fell, then Arthurs Pike, walked on the tops over Swarth Fell then came down a very steep bit to Howtown, then walked back all along the side of Ullswater to where we were parked.
Mrs was saying it was 10 miles, and my thighs are telling me the same thing this morning.![]()

Cracking route. l’m blessed in that I work on Ullswater, and live within a couple of hundred metres of its shore. Some phenomenal walking around here, and it’s been tough not taking advantage of lockdown and getting out on the fells whilst there’s been nobody around.
If you fancy a slightly longer (but even more spectacular) route, park in either Patterdale or Glenridding, then head for Boredale Hause. Take the path over Beda Fell, then go over Martindale Hause (a quick diversion from here up Hallin Fell is highly recommended), before rounding Hallin Fell to join the lakeshore path that leads back to Patterdale and Glenridding from Howtown. Around 12-13 miles in total, combining low and high level walking in stunning surroundings.
Did Blake not mind you taking the photo in a moment of passion ?
Parked at Thackthwaite, went up Low Fell on to Fellbarrow, round trip of 5.5 miles.
