Hello folks,

We’ll be on another CUSG Meeting via Zoom next Monday (7th June).

Any Questions you’d like us to take are to be submitted on here by 18:00 on Friday 4th June to enable us to collate and forward to all parties - Please note, questions of a similar nature may be combined into one to save answering the same thing several times over!

ONLY Questions raised on THIS Thread will be taken. If you’ve already indicated you’d like something asked elsewhere, you’d be advised to copy and paste onto this Thread - This is simply for ease and so that everything is in one place, and saves us searching various other Threads!

Thanks,

Admin.

I have plenty of self respect and nobody treats me like a fool. Nobody has lied to me as I don't give a toss about what has happened to Barry's posts.
You are just an annoying self important paranoid irritation.

Aragorn, FFS will you stop going on about Barry’s posts, it’s gone well beyond that.

Principles. Truth. You not got it yet?

On a point of principle I would trust two of the mods before Kessler as I know who they are and they are not making allegations in anonymity

It is a mess really - nobody will confess to this it will look too bad.

Barry will want answers from this individual (which I believe is responsible) and I can't see the other three/four whatever throwing him under a bus.

Secondly, at least one of them has a business to think about - if your name is not reputable on here then that would transfer to all of your other activity, that is just how it is in the real world.

Then there would be a conflict of interest with The Trust issue and if people discovered that they are pulling the strings then there would be uproar and folk would want the board to disassociate themselves with The Trust and I can't see this happening either.

I have been involved with legal issues of confidentiality myself in the past as I am sure that many others on here have also been, everyone knows that you are allowed to say that you cannot mention anything because of ongoing investigations/legal matters etc without breaking any agreements in place - in short there are ways around it to clear this up without getting yourself into any bother or breaking any confidentiality agreements (that is if you want to of course).

And if the moderators want to stop rumours and questions then just do the honourable thing and tell the truth about what happened, it is casting a cloud over their message board and its integrity - the reason for the removal of the information was given as a glitch, this has been claimed as not possible by IT people in the know on here and back-tracking on lies does not go down well usually either.

You might not give a toss about what happened to his posts, but that doesn't change the fact the mods have lied to us. You might not care, but I do. It's up to them whether they wanted Barry on their forum or not, but if they don't then they should be honest about it. Lying to us, especially when the lie is blatantly obvious, is extremely insulting and disrespectful to the rest of their users.

Them staying silent on the matter actually fuels the conflict of interest thing. While we know for sure the mods deleted Barrys posts, we don't know (for sure) why. There's a suspicion they did so at request of the club/trust and at the moment that's all it is, a suspicion. But as long as that suspicion lingers, there will always be doubts about the supposed "independent" nature of this forum. If the mods came clean about deleting his posts and said it was entirely their decision and they were just fed up of the shit he posted, then at least that clears up the conflict of interest issue.

I feel a bit torn on this one. I frequently ban folk from my Facebook page and have regular clearouts. Facebook for me is for my friends and family and if people annoy me and/or have radically different views from me I just don't want them spoiling my downtime, even though they may be nice people who I respect. I also feel on Twitter and Facebook there is a danger of people's private problems being seen by the public unless users know about privacy settings (which many don't).

So perfectly happy for anyone to have a personal account that's kept personal. Do think though there should a Carlisle United diversity account on all social media, which if nothing else gives an email addy explaining that the email will be answered promptly. privately and with the wish to help.

Nothing to do with me though, just an opinion.

This might help explain why you are at odds with the message board at times Bumble, our views may not always be the same but I still regard you as a very important contributor to the board with stories aplenty.

On Facebook it is your own space and you are fit to do whatever, I personally want people with opposing views to mine otherwise I would be a one dimensional person who only wants contact from people who think like me, this would do my head in as I value sensible objectionable views to my own and I like to question my own views, I demand more from Facebook than folk telling each other how 'awesome' one another is.

That is one of the reasons that I have interests in message boards, not everyone is going to be right.

The only time I recall ever getting banned from Facebook was a farce - you know those 'share a memory from five years ago' things that pop up now and again, I reposted one (it was along the lines of Terry wasn't very good at hide and seek and this bloke was naked but from the back with nothing showing and a flower sticking out of his backside as he was pretending to be a vase) and they banned me for a week, the bit that hacked me off was that they prompted me to post the thing in the first place!?!

I've never bothered with Twitter.

I agree. For example I strongly believe in socialism, but it's interesting to have a successful businessman on the forum challenge your views and give a different perspective. A discussion where you are forced to consider and defend your own opinion against criticism is a lot more productive than people just endlessly agreeing with each other for popularity and likes.

To be honest I don't mind being at odds with folk on here at all. I am happy to argue my case if it's something I care about, even if I am the only person who thinks that way. That's what discussion boards are for.

What drains me on this message board is the arguments that are repeated again and again over multiple threads so you end up sifting through the same old, same old, and missing important discussion points in the process. I don't see the point of arguing for the sake of it. Put a point across, if people run with it fine, if no one agrees with it fine, but to keep going on and on and on about it makes the messageboard a pretty boring place in my opinion.

I do think on message boards and in life, you have to say your piece but there will be times when that piece is at odds with the general view. when you get to that point, you have to decide whether to suck it up and, however important it is to you, say ok I can't win this one or take it any further. Then you have to decide whether you continue or whether the principle is too great and you leave.

As for Facebook, family who I haven't seen for 18month because of this damned pandemic are my priority there, I really don't feel I am missing out by not broadening my horizons :D

I see Nigel Davidson of CUOSC is involved in the fan led review. I’ve never met Nigel and this is nothing against him but IMO those selected as part of the fan led review should not be members of a trust which has partial ownership of a football club. I feel this should be looking at trusts as well as owners and holding them both accountable as they both have input on important decisions made. Surely it would be better to select a season holder who has no connection to the trust or to the board. I feel a member of the trust taking part may give the owners an easy time.

And that's good. If you care about a particular point, even if it's one I disagree with, I still think you should argue your case. It brings variety to the message board to have many opinions and who knows, I might change my mind once I hear your argument. But you don't need to call people "troll" just because you disagree with them. I was rather hurt when you said that to me last year and while I appreciated the apology, I feel like you've been implying the same thing again in recent posts so I don't know how genuine that apology was?

And that's fine. But you can voice an opinion without being rude to the other person. Calling someone "troll" is a rather vile thing to say, and I think I was right to call her out on it. There's simply no need to call people names like that. If you disagree with me about something then say you disagree. Criticize my argument, explain why you think I'm wrong. I like a good debate, but please keep it civil. I would never call Bumble "troll" even though there's some stuff she posts I disagree with.

Yes, because the actually are liars. I am not insulting them, I'm simply stating a fact. Whereas I'm not a troll, so calling me one is both untrue and unfair. It was quite hurtful.

Don't try to twist things Bumble, you were the one who called me a troll remember?

I wouldn't call you a troll, because I don't believe in speaking to people like that. There is simply no need for it, we can all be civil even if we disagree, no need to be insulting. Last year Barry was always insulting me and I learned to tune that out, but you always seemed fairly reasonable and friendly. So when you suddenly started insulting me out of the blue like that it was a bit of a surprise and I felt hurt. I still don't really know why you called me that. Have I ever offended you in some way?

Kessler OK then I will explain it . You are a Troll and a wind up merchant who says the mods are liars . Or I could say that you are someone who likes to say things to get a reaction and think the mods are not being honest with you .

Bob. My views and opinions, whether you like them or not, are genuine and they are consistent. If I was a troll, I would change what I say regularly in order to get the most reaction. I know, as a matter of fact, that the mods are liars because I understand the software enough to know that Barrys posts wouldn't be deleted unless a moderator made it so. I see nothing wrong with calling someone a liar when they have in fact lied. Whereas I am not a troll, so calling me one is not only untrue and unfair, it's also extremely unkind and insulting. I'd like to know why Bumble called me a troll because it seemed to come out of the blue, and when you get insulted by someone randomly you want to know what's caused it.

Generally in most debates a consensus of opinion is formed even voted on and the debaters should accept the vote

The majority on here seem to have ‘voted’ against you on numerous occasions yet you still churn out the same laborious junk.

Same with your nonsense with bumble can’t you accept an apology and move on with good grace or continue to bore us all.

I haven’t had this for more than 20 years but when I could eat anything without worrying, it was Domino’s deep pan medium Hawaiian with extra peperoni, mushroom, smoky bacon and one other that I can’t remember.

In regards to vans, it would have to be the Transit, as I’d drive around waiting to be stopped by a Granada and being dragged out by Jack Regan telling me he’s hungry and hasn’t had breakfast yet. I will admit the Sprinter looks good and I’m surprised from the one’s I’ve seen that the Merc badge hasn’t been knocked off – thought that would have been an issue.

What bugs me is the amount of writing on the back of cars. Sanyongyongyong are the worst – they have virtually the whole of the alphabet on the back.

We all need some breathing space. I find that the more a subject with polarised views is discussed the more people get entrenched, then the original subject gets diluted. The mods have cleared up some, but not all, issues with their recent statements so thanks CCU for that. We’ll no doubt get back to it in due course but it’s time for a cease-fire. Whether that time is used for fence-mending or stocking up on ammunition is completely up to you.
