Liverpool and Man Utd to play teams:

4 wins means 40k - 2 League 2 players for the 2nd half of the season - which would be a boost to the shambles of a team we have now from pound land.

Great name for it UD the Poundland Trophy, the EFL should have approached them before Leasing.com

Looking at this trophy now is very sad. If this competition was in accident and emergency fighting for its life, and then flat lined. The Doctors would look at each other and suggest jump starting it’s heart. Then they would look at each other and go nah! “Come on let’s go to the pub. Bring back the Autowindscreens format, we DON’T WANT THE PREMIER league it our competition [censored]* off

Don’t know how to post the picture, but the Daily Telegraph are running an ‘exclusive’ tomorrow under the heading “EFL chief Shaun Harvey: I wanted to stage cup draw in outer space”.

Must be the EFL Trophy due to lack of atmosphere....

We are the only game being played in the Trophy tonight, having chosen not to use the traditional pre-International Tuesday like most others did.

I believe JN voted for the admittance of U21 teams to the EFL trophy and now the competition is dying.

This illustrates the quality of decision making, or rather the lack of it, at board level at Brunton Park.

As I've said before if Carlisle United were a public company the shareholders would have given the directors the push by now.

Well 7 U21 teams made the Second Round, 5 have gone out, leaving Man City and Leicester as the last teams standing.

Another successful Season in the Trophy for the future of the England team!

The size of crowds in this competition is irrelevant to those in charge of clubs, because the money they’ve accepted from the Premier League covers the lost revenue and more (not that the old trophy was bringing in the crowds).

You could have, may have, one man and a dog at a game, it won’t make any difference to their decision making as long as the pound signs are dangled before their eyes by the top clubs...

Thought that the North and South groups were kept apart until the final.
At least that was what it used to be.
Maybe it has changed?

It's a shame because Portsmouth fans did stand against the charade early on it seemed but they do seem to have sold their soul. Im sure they have a hardcore who care about the principle but it seems they are in the minority.

It was a terrible game - if these are mid table League 2 sides thank god I only see it 2 or 3 times a season.

Beckham, Scholes, Giggs etc weren't even there or sky would be having a wank fest over it.

For a semi final it hardly compares with these:

3,000 on par with what Stevenage took to Stoke for the playoff final against us.

As soon as these non league sides return to where they belong the better.

By the way
'At least we are not Stockport' have a higher average attendance than us!

Debatable whether we’re better off or not with the additional prize money this competition brings, as our crowds (and therefore gate receipts) have suffered as a result.

Since the academy teams were invited we’ve had 9 home games and averaged 1,068

Our previous 9 home games before academy teams were invited averaged 2,913 (I’ve excluded the Leeds area final as it slightly distorts the figure)

That’s an average loss of 1,845 fans a game, at say £10 a head is £18,450 a game, 45% of which is £8,300. The fact you get £10,000 a game if you win (sod all if you lose) when we’re losing nearly that in gate receipts means it wasn’t really worth voting in favour of in the first place!

EFL met Salford and Portsmouth, and have finally decided to refund the tickets bought 10 months ago.

Incredibly, they’re still planning on playing the Final!
