If we are serious about promotion and our intent what do we need to do with players we need to recruit and their positions and who do we let go.

Also, someone's told me they've seen zanzala outside the stadium talking to gav Skelton, they also sent a picture of his car parked outside the club shop

To be honest I don’t think we need to strengthen that much, if we keep hold of everyone then maybe get Walker back on loan and this zanzala fella were looking good.. Tanner and Devine to come back from injury aswell and we haven’t seen much of what Dickerson can do yet

If Zanzala coming its being a few days since he was or maybe was spotted, you would think it would have been announced by now.
If he does come in I hope they will still give Scott a chance If his club don't price us out.

With no disrespect intended to Hebburn, they play at the same level as Penrith. Any ‘fee’ for Scott would be minimal given lads at that level can move on a weeks notice...

Would be pretty unlikely that he is on a contract at that level, which would mean there would be no fee. Hebburn may have had the sense to get him contracted when he had that burst of goals but in the current financial climate I don’t know whether they have the wherewithal to have been able to do that.

Now we have Zanzala and with Walker not coming back, we may see another forward a midfielder and a defender come in.
Squad would then, with our young players be good enough to continue our push for promotion.

I’ve a feeling these ins and outs wont matter short term as the season is about to be suspended. Let’s hope the positions stand and we start next season in League One. :D

The positions would not stand , the season would be nil and voided. The latest bath of testing has seen a fall in numbers amoungst teams , so I can imaging the season will continue.

Would be a sickener if the season was abandoned and became null and void, when we are finally looking like we could get out of this league and making the club look a better bet for finding new owners.

Well Reds were ten points clear with seven games left and their season was null and void. Now there is talk of cancellation again so it happened last season.

Today’s random Twitter nonsense is Finn Harps defender Shane McEleney and Hartlepool midfielder Gavin Hoolahan...

Nonsense is indeed the word for those rumours, I strongly suspect.

McEleney is a central defender, so can't really see that one as he wouldn't supplant either Hayden or Bennett in the side. He's also nearly 30 and has never played at a good standard.

Hoolahan is a central midfielder and we're also pretty stacked in that area.

If Roddy Collins was our manager I'd expect these types of signings, it would be like entering a time warp and bringing the likes of Darren Kelly and Will McDonough into the club.

Pete orourke tweeted were battling with forest green for Sunderland midfielder Dan Neil. Usually a reliable source

The Dan Neil rumour has come from a number of more reliable sources on Twitter so suspect there’s some truth in that.

I’d like to think we’d beat FGR to the lad given location etc however they’ve just sold Winchester to Sunderland so might help them secure a loan deal.

Neil played against us in the EFL Trophy this season, didn't he?

If it was him, he looked garbage and was hooked.

I can't see the logic signing a player like this to be honest. Charters has more league experience and we have Dixon knocking on the door of the first team.

Our own young midfielders are as good as the likes of Neil, someone with a bit of experience would make more sense. The last young loan midfielder was a waste of a space.

Highly thought of at Sunderland and looked really promising pre-season along with Jack Diamond, only for Parkinson to ignore the pair of them once the season started. Since Johnson has come in he’s played in all the FL trophy games and been on the bench for the first team and Johnson has said he’ll be going out in loan this window for experience. Not sure how much value he’ll be to Carlisle though or how much value Carlisle will be to him. Got a feeling Johnson might look to find him a team who play through midfield more than we do and somewhere where he’ll get more game time.

Would suggest if we are looking to bring a midfielder in perhaps Furman is on way out after hardly featuring

Everyone else in midfield seems ahead of him
Guy
Mellish
Devine
Riley
Charters

At 32 needs to be playing to keep international place you would think

I don't think Furman's last in the queue for a midfield place, it's dependent upon position.

Guy's form has been pretty decent and that deep lying central position is also Furman's preferred role.

It's inconceivable Guy's going to make it through to the end of the season without a knock or suspension or two and Furman's ready made to step into that role.

It's also going to help the younger players to have such an experienced pro knocking about, so I hope he stays for the year.

Spot on with this, Furman is great cover for guy in my opinion similar type of players doing the dirty work in midfield. I think if we were to bring in a midfielder it would be a more creative type player with a bit of experience, keep mellish on his toes.

I like Furman especially how he plays the position deep in the pocket. Has great experience and I hope he has a voice on the training ground too. He presents himself well and is an intelligent player. Even though he could be on the bench I think he could be a great impact player to close out games. We have a lot of games thick and fast on hard and testing pitches so we could pick up injuries or some players maybe not be able to play if tested positive for covid. Still a good signing in my opinion but it also gives credit to the players and club for getting ahead of him. After all we are top of the league. :)

I should add I wasn't suggesting we should be looking to move him on he's a very competent player just trying to get my head around bringing other midfielders in when we are quite strong in that area and with youngsters looking to break through too
