Cracking pictures of the homeland on this thread. As an expat down in Bedfordshire I wouldn't mind printing some of these off as pictures for the office - show these southerners what they're missing!

Would any of you that have posted have any objections to me using your photos? ....and if you are OK with it, would you be happy sharing a decent sized file with me so that I can print off - if I can let you know which ones.

No worries if you don't want to....I can still show the thread off to jealous workmates!

Now that's just showing off Alan.

Re. the Lakes, just been watching a clip of the locals in Venice demonstrating about house prices, letting homes, tourist numbers etc. Mirrors the problems in the L D for me but something that doesn't seem to be talked up much.

Spent a week with family in Gt Langdale over the summer and was mortified at what I saw: literally the whole village owned by letting companies. Looked a bit further and found the the village school had surveyed and found 80 PC were holiday homes.

Like Venice, the place is nothing but a tourist playground with the local community fabric gone! Tragic and I'm amazed people have just sat back and watch it happen! As for the NP Authority,t they should be ashamed of themselves! Apparently, preserving the local culture and traditions only include drystone walling and sheep numbers but not local, human communities!

Won't be out till after Christmas now but here's my favourite pic of this year taken from the edge of Buttermere looking across to Fleetwith Pike.

So glad I clicked on this thread today after reading the other depressing shit about the football!

Love the Lakes. Only return once a year these days. My wife always allows me a day to myself, to climb something the kids can't. I get them up some smaller ones though and often take a morning/evening run up a small fell.

I'll have to put some pics up after my next trip (April). Hopefully do the Coniston Fells, take the kids up Hallin Fell and run Binsey... weather permitting!

Cheers for cheering me up after another crappy result.

Good luck with that. There's only been one eagle since his mate died in 2004 and he hasn't been seen for over a year.
