Well, I thought it'd be good to have a thread for people to put on what they are listening to at the moment. Always good to gear what other people are listening to as nothing like hearing a new band or record you don't know and it seems lots of you good people love your music.
So, to kick off I've had New Gold Dream by Simple Minds on repeat today. Can't say I cared for their later stuff but this record, well, it's just great and reminiscent of the shimmery, hazy Summer days of youth when you had not a care in the world.
What else have you all been listening to recently?

Couple of great tracks by Aussie bands from the 80s.

The Church are still on the go after well over 20 albums. There’s only Steve Kilbey left from the Under The Milky Way line up. I once went to Brussels to see them and I’m currently listening to Remindlessness, one of Kilbey’s many solo albums.

I requested that they play this on the P.A before a match a Brunton Park. And they obliged.

You're right, an absolute genius.
No airs and graces with Rory and was someone who other guitar greats all look up to.

Today I've given Faith No More's "The Real Thing" album a listen for the first time in years.
Forgotten how brilliant it is. Way ahead of its time.

I don't know if you managed to catch the recent series on Sky Arts titled 'Guy Garvey - 'From The Vaults' NCF. They had some memorable TV rarities including 'Kilburn and The High Roads' featuring Ian Dury back in 1975 in one of his first TV appearances (bloody good it was too). KATHR disbanded shortly afterwards and the rest is history.

I missed that Ibtufty but will have a look and see if I can track it down. Been listening a lot to his son's stuff recently. Worth a listen if you've not already heard it.

Great song that NCF, 6 Music was right behind it on release and they still play it occasionally now. For some reason the synth string parts on it always remind me of 'My Weakness', the final track on the Moby album 'Play from around 1m40s in': https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8miMg3xBN2s

Joan Baez turns 80 today. Had the privilege to see her at the Cambridge Folk Festival a few years back.
I remember seeing a documentary on Dylan and she talked about the the songs he threw in the bin,
She would retrieve the screwed up bits of paper, flatten them out and realise that his cast offs were better than her finest efforts.
Something like that. Worth a watch that documentary for anyone who's not seen it, by Scorsese, I think.
Anyway, this is what I've been listening to today. The great Joan Baez.

If I were a betting man, I'd put money on this being Neil Young. It isn't. Nor was it written by the group performing it.
