If you look at 2021 Anderton wasn't offered was he? He was mince and disappeared off doing everyone a favour.
I don't think Farman was offered either as we had Captain potential, Norman waiting to become number1.
Patrick already knew he was off to League 1, so no discussion there.
Zanala was after £5ka week, ridiculous and hugely more than he ever got.
So the only player we had any conversations with who we didn't get was Bennett, a player who lasted 6 months at a team relegated and 6 months at a team that did its best to join them.
Scott and Furman both dropped into non league. So the one we really wanted was Feeney, and he is still with us.
We were also accepted, unfortunately, by Alessandra and Toure.
Anderton was offered a contact The offer from Bristol Rovers was too good to turn down even though he enjoyed it here and thought about staying
Farman was offered on less money and turned it down he was told he would be number 2
Zanzalas deal was within our structure - if it was clibbens negotiating he’d of stayed.

I don't believe Zanzala wanted what we offered. We know he talked to Bradford after us and asked for 5k, so he must have had an expectation of that, at least being an opening gambit.

Whatever happens we are going to be Donald ducked if the recruitment isn't better this year than last. Whelan, Abrahams, clough, dinzeyi, young. At least the 2 lads looked half decent. Whelan was solid enough on occasion, but Abrahams was just shite and clough looked like he never wanted to come here. We have to get a couple of decent incomers

I don’t think Simpson said a Carlisle United player he wanted to keep was off he said you can’t approach players until they are released and a player he was interested in despite that had already been tapped up. So he was talking about a player at another club

He’s been Coaching for nearly 20yrs, been involved in the England set-up, as well as at Clubs across all Divisions - He’ll have a Contact list bigger than anyone since Greg Abbott!!!

It’s because he’s not going to recruit under the scatter gun approach of our previous esteemed DoF it’s going to be a longer term strategy so will probably to build up a database to sign players of interest in the longer term. So hopefully doesn’t end up with the shambles of a squad we have currently.

Listened to the YouTube interview again and to me it’s not clear in that he meant a Carlisle player. Only the written article on the official site indicates that.
Hopefully if it’s against the rules action is taken by the EFL against the club concerned. Otherwise what’s the point. As for the player if he doesn’t want to be here fine [censored] off. No big loss in any case from the poor standard of the squad.
I think the change in recruitment is quite simple - moving from reactive to pro-active. Previously we had no scouting network so we reacted to agents' lists of players and phone calls. Simmo wants to take a long term view, watching players at other clubs develop and target those who would do a job for us. It makes it easier to put the phone down on agents if their players aren't already of interest. I can see Jakey Blain having an important part to play and maybe getting a junior assistant number cruncher.
Definitely need to get some stronger personalities and leaders in the squad, we’ve got a lot of quiet players whose heads go down when they make a mistake or things aren’t going well. It’s something all three managers this season have commented on.

Hm. If the contacts he has are so good you have to ask why he he's talked so much about getting a head of recruitment. It means he's looking at players he doesn't know and he doesn't have an opinion he trusts. Good grief!!
If he learned anything yesterday it must be that Feeney, mellish and whelan in centre defence is a disaster.
