Now the GE is done and dusted, and with MP’s returning to Parliament today to begin being sworn in, we’ve locked the GE Thread last night, and you can now use this one for any Westminster related stuff.

Anything Brexit related will be moved to the ongoing Brexit Thread!

If you are quoting, please add a link to back it up. Post without and the quote may be removed.

Thanks.

Big shout out to the Tory Government. A few weeks ago we had a fuel crisis. Germans who got their licences before 1999 were being implored to come and drive tankers. A £1m pound advertising campaign brought in 17 Polish drivers. DVLA is taking 10 weeks to issue provisional licences, Pearsons have 3 month waiting lists for theory tests, but we found the 50000 drivers we needed. Phew. Making Britain great again

Maybe, but one man making half a million out of a pandemic is a bit much, even by their standards.

Owen's now resigned from the "cruel world of politics" after being told off for simply taking half a million off some guys he then helped ease into a nice government contract :-(

sad days

Well Boris is definitely at it, re: wallpapergate, and that's why cummings is suggesting the real reason for trying to change the rules is to stop himself suffering the same fate

The corruption at the top is unbelievable we are turning into being no better than a third world country run by greedy corrupt politicians.
The sad thing is that some people are still willing to vote for them even though they are being led up the garden path.

Marko will feel like me tonight-we have conflict of interest drilled into our brains when being trained. That Patterson didn’t ‘know’ and half the Tory party tried to bury it is shameful.Absolutely pathetic

Plausible deniability. It doesn't matter any more does it? Pensioners, the unemployed, minimum wage voters. They all vote for the Tories despite seeing their lives get worse by the day. Who cares what he did?

Could you suggest an alternative please ?

You had the opportunity to vote for an honest man. Instead, you bought the lies of Murdoch and voted in someone who sees you only as a source of funds to redistribute to Tory donors.

Surely any party who isn't the conservatives is a better vote?

Labour defector gives the Tories control of Carlisle City Council

Carlisle Conservatives have taken overall control of the city council after a Labour councillor joined the group.

Jo Ellis-Williams, who represents Parklands and Harraby South, said Labour no longer represented her values and claimed she had had enough of in-fighting within the group.

She said: “I got involved in politics to help people, to improve lives and improve the area we live. It has become increasingly apparent locally that the Labour Party is no longer the place to achieve that.

“I don’t feel my core values of increasing fairness and prosperity have changed; it just doesn’t seem to me that the Labour Party in Carlisle is capable of delivering on these values anymore. They are too busy squabbling amongst themselves.

“This in-fighting, point scoring and focusing on the nurturing of grievance has created an ugly culture of self-interest amongst some party members.”

You'd think so but unfortunately nope.

Labour should be pissing the polls right about now but are effectively going backwards, Liberal pfft and the Greens in theory should be looking to take advantage of all the upswell of support for the planet and the global warming crisis etc but have gone down the joint leadership route and the guy looks a bigger drip than Stamer, Putin would be laughing his cock off if either of them got in power.
She was Labour, but defected to the Conservatives?

Unbelievably fickle. Going independent, I could understand. Going Green, sure. Going Lib? Tenuous. Going Conservative? Absurd.

Same applies to a Conservative defecting - going Lib, I could understand. But going Green or Labour? Absolute nonsense.

How can somebody’s political ideology change so dramatically?

It’s like switching affiliation from Manchester United to Liverpool.

Nowt to do with her being married to Gareth Ellis, the conservative councillor, no, not at all
