Seen lot’s of ‘sign a Striker’ in Jan comments, rightfully so I’ll add, but doffing my serious cap for a minute, just who would we go for or even appeal to?!

Any half decent one available will have more than ourselves as suitors, and any rivals for a signature will have one of location advantage, wage offer and League position in their favour if not two or more likely all three?

The only way we’re signing a proven marksman is offering serious coin, something that’s we all know is unlikely.

So what is the answer?

The vast majority of U23 level lads are simply not ready for the hustle and bustle of lower L2. Young a fine example without berating him. Simply too raw.

Non-League? Big risk with these types obviously, but rough and tumble wouldn’t bother most. Also plenty of National League can offer good wages etc. Scott came in, but was plainly obvious Beech didn’t fancy him.

Look further? Scotland, Ireland, Europe?! The further afield, the bigger the risk also. For every Tommy Murray there’s a Richard Offiong!

Whoever we bring in, really could be the transfer to make or break our League Status. Hopefully they have broad shoulders…

We don’t just need a striker we need a whole new squad.

Who would want to come here to play for peanuts and bottom of the league. It’s going to take money a whole lot of precious money but we ain’t got patience and time to get it right.

Whoever comes in - whether a proven marksman or young prospect - is going to need money. Wages. There's no money. Any coin that comes in through transfer fees or football fortune is going to service the debt. Our best hope is to go bust. Which is actually a very real prospect.

Your wasting your time Dan - the only transfer they’re interested in is Henderson’s from Man Utd.

Walking back from the match tonight we reckon we’re down to one decent player in the whole squad. They’re not going to turn the whole team over and as you say they’ve now made the club completely unattractive all round. Who in their right mind indeed?

They’ve got us into the worst possible position at the worst possible time with no solution available to them and unfortunately past the point of no return in my view. Jenkins legacy will be “a nice little non league club” after all. We’ll done. He and his fellow directors should be so proud.

Yes I agree, nobody will want to come unless there is a bit of safety in numbers.
We need to bring 4 or 5 in and splash the cash. If we don't , can't or won't we are relegation certainties with this squad and any half decent player would be crazy to sign up to that.

A whole new squad to what? Stay up?
Na, we can stay up with 2 or 3 additions to this squad.

If we had a decent forward we probably would have won tonight.

But if we do get the 2 or 3 and then do stay up, then we’d need a squad overhaul to progress further.

The solution is borne out of Hobson's choice - put Mellish upfront.
I actually think it would work.

I disagree.

By January it's quite likely we'll become detached at the bottom, unless other teams such as Barrow get sucked into the mix.

As such we'll need a team that can win points week in a week out to stand any chance of survival. Two centre forwards, two defenders and a midfielder are an absolute minimum.

I think we can finish third bottom with a new centre forward, another forward with pace who can possibly play wide as well, and a central defender.

I’d obviously like more but it’s quality rather than quantity we need in our new signings. If they are the right quality I believe 3 would be enough.

Definitely don’t need an entire new squad in January as mullen thinks.

We aren’t going to pick up many points between now and January.
The players aren’t good enough 2 or 3 players won’t cut it imo.

Realistically we can’t get a new squad but we need one.

Hope I’m wrong but I now fully expect us to be relegated.

As for strikers, send Young back to Villa and take a punt on a different u-23 loanee or two, preferably at least one who is bigger and more physical.

Release Mampala, cancel Abrahams contract by mutual consent. Invite Clough to announce his retirement.

Use the money saved to bring in some experienced old striker in the reserves of a League 2 or Conference club. In the Peter Duffield or Andy Flounders mould. Someone past their best who was never amazing but has some idea what to do if the ball drops to them in the penalty box.

According to Chris Lumsdon, Danny Graham loves the club.
Offer him what he wants, get the guy fit and chuck him on.
Cannot possibly do worse up front

Can we take Hughie Mac’s statue off it’s base and put it on the penalty spot at the Warwick end?
More mobile and will probably score more goals than our current strikers.

Looking at various squads most clubs are light on out and out strikers. It may be we have to look instead for two or three attacking midfielders similar to our best two outfield players, Gibson and Riley.
Macaulay Langstaff and Cedwyn Scott have scored 17 goals between them this season.

Scott never had a fair opportunity under Beech.

We should sign them both.

Then I'd also be looking for some experience upfront.

My understanding is there isn’t much money forJanuary as they had to pay Beech off

If we get a cub run there might be a little bit 3000 crowd tonight will tighten the purse strings though

I heard Beech’s pay off was £80 and a tank of petrol.

Money well spent.

There are players out there, without doubt. Edmundson only on the bench at Fleetwood for example.
Not saying he is the solution (not seen enough of him to know), but there are shitloads of suitable players about.
For some reason we pitch it so low (take Young at Villa as an example) that they end up not playing much after looking out of their depth.
Scouting was discussed on here a few weeks back, but we don't appear to have any. Let's hope Bristol City have someone suitable going spare.

Simmo set the blueprint for turning round a struggling club: bring in half decent, experienced pros with strong personalities

We don’t necessarily need a 20/30 goal a season player to get out of this mess. Dickinson put in a couple of great crosses last night to exactly where a striker should’ve been but wasn’t. Most strikers sitting on league one benches last night who know where the six yard box is would vastly improve us as an attacking threat
Not easy to have much faith when it comes to bringing in strikers as the last time we needed goals urgently Mark Cullen and Conor Simpson were recruited :o
Have to hope Millen's knowledge of the leagues and contacts bears some fruit. You'd think he has some decent contacts.
Even adding some attacking midfielders would be a start. When O'Hare and Thomas were brought in they must have scored a few goals - as did McKirdy - and looked more likely than the current crop of forwards.
The very faint silver lining I'm hanging on to is that surely we can out spend Scunthorpe and Oldham in January. You'd think having a billionaire investor would give us the edge.
Loose change for Day to fund 4 or 5 players for a few months.
I feel desperately sad at the moment about the state of the club so god only knows how you must all be feeling.
Such a great old football club and both it and the city deserve better.

Cullen has 5 in 15 in all Comps for Hartlepool this Season, we can only dream of such returns!

On a serious note, his move here wasn’t fair on the lad, he was carrying a knock when he arrived and struggled on through it…
Yes, CCU, you are right he wasn't fit and I'd seen him play for Blackpool and he was real quality.
Felt very sorry for him when with us but was still a poor piece of recruitment when we'd just lost Nadesan and Yates.
I see Cole Stockton has turned into Messi since he left us...

Tank of petrols more than his pay off!

Another crap manager Solskjaer got £7.5m payoff. If Beech got 1% of that it would be too much for what he has done to our club.
