Well, I thought it'd be good to have a thread for people to put on what they are listening to at the moment. Always good to gear what other people are listening to as nothing like hearing a new band or record you don't know and it seems lots of you good people love your music.
So, to kick off I've had New Gold Dream by Simple Minds on repeat today. Can't say I cared for their later stuff but this record, well, it's just great and reminiscent of the shimmery, hazy Summer days of youth when you had not a care in the world.
What else have you all been listening to recently?

Very good, I'm very jealous of your talent. I was 50 before I picked up a guitar, I never had any inkling how hard it is to play music, let alone write it.

Thank you.

Playing the guitar is difficult. The reason why I started writing my own songs was because I realised I'd never be good enough to cover a lot of standard songs.

Just started a new band, very early days but we’ve got a good few songs already. A sneak peak from our (brand new) YouTube channel…

(No way) out of here outro
Two cracking gigs over the past couple of days - Khruangbin at the Leeds 02 Academy followed by the Chilli Peppers at Old Trafford (LCCC) last night.

Both sets were phenomenal, though I’ve got to say there were some bad apples around in Manchester, with a couple of fights breaking out around us in the golden circle. Idiots!

Had Sam on most of the day whilst driving about doing a few jobs.

Buzzing to see him live tomorrow at Finsbury Park! :)

10CC last night at The Sands, an excellent set with a good buzz about the place, thoroughly enjoyed the evening, if the blues had poked a goal or two in earlier in the day it would have been a superb Saturday.

Love Belle & Sebastian. White collar boy is a belter of a tune.
This week for me it’s the best of suede & The National

Suede were brilliant at the Sands during their Coming Up tour back in the nineties. Incredibly high energy levels, excellent live band.

Wednesday evening at the OFS, Wishbone Ash, a brilliant evening, they played the full Argus set, a true classic, what a night.

Saw them at the Market Hall in 1980.

Portsmouth for me on that tour.

Thought I'd put this one up. Not the greatest song, certainly fairly simple in it's construction. The video is just fantastic, though. They got all their mates in the room and just went for it. The guy with the long hair, glasses and white guitar is just brilliant. I can imagine going to the barman to collect the £60 at the end of the night, and realising that you have to split it 30 ways

I was at that gig too. Enjoyed the Argus set but felt that it showed up the rest of their output. Back in the early 70s, I liked albums one, two and four but absolutely loved album three - Argus. But then they changed personnel and There's the Rub was puerile. I think loads of others felt the same as they were barely heard of since. On Wednesday, they did F.U.B.B. from There's the Rub which was ok but I'd have preferred what they did in other gigs on this tour - Phoenix. Ah well, back to YouTube...
