The fans leading the fan-led review will no doubt end up being the same ones who voted our board the best for fan engagement in the country.

I thought it was said that all clubs were participating on this, but maybe not.

Just got asked to take part in the official fan-led review of football.

One of the questions was whether the Trust should have a veto on any board decisions.

[censored] me, great idea in principal just not our Trust.

I'm just glad fans are actually being asked for input!

I think it is so difficult to decide in advance what is good for a football club. For example, do you want a billionaire to buy your club? Yes but not if it Mike Ashley or if the billionaire has no interest in making it successful. Do you want local owners? Yes but not our local owners.

An independent regulator could work well provided it isn't just a box ticking exercise and listens to the views of fans and the community during a short consultation period. That way you can get Wrexham type takeovers and make it more difficult for people like the Lemsagams to buy football clubs.

A start would be that if you want to take over a football club, make it that you have to put at least two year's running costs in a ring fenced account.

And also that you haven't arranged any murders of people who disagree with you.

Most the Premier League Clubs are owned by Charlatan's what makes anyone think they will accept Government intervention ?

Ibo has it right, safeguarding has to be ring fencing money to fund clubs future. It's a common sense approach.

Not just Newcastle with dodgy owners though is it..

Chinese owners already in the Premier League...China is currently exterminating a race of people because they're muslim and guilty of a wide range of inhumane acts over several recent decades...remember when little girls were born and just disappeared? Still happens even though the 1 child rule was relinquished.

Russian owners, Russia are murdering dissenters in foreign countries including the UK with nerve gas, they imprison and torture gay people and anyone who disagrees with Putin risks being 'lost' in a camp in Siberia

Other Arab owners too, they're maybe not killing people in embassies but they're far from squeaky clean either...they're jailing people for fun and chopping bits of them off as punishment too.

You could argue that any USA owned clubs are also linked to a country with shady Human Rights issues, guantanamo bay? Mexican immigrants being separated from their kids? Starting wars to boost their defence company profits and score some new oil supplies?

How dare anyone in Britain speak out about this sort of thing anyway? Why are fans not at Downing Street picketing over the supply of arms to Saudi? We're complicit in killing hundreds of thousands in Yemen by selling Saudi the weapons to do it...but that's okay apparently.

It's all a massive joke.
You can't develop a moral compass just because to suits you when your club potentially get outspent by another

All the fuss CUOSC made of this Review, and all they manage is a retweet of the DCMS Tweet (Their first action on Twitter in nearly 2 weeks).

Difference is the Chinese, Russian and American owners already here aren’t the ones overseeing the killings and human rights issues in their native countries. The Saudi’s at Newcastle are.

CUOSC have finally commented:

Bit of a contradiction, our Trust are a perfect example of what not to do:

"Greater power is also given to fans in the form of ‘shadow boards’ and a ‘golden share’. The Blues are in a great position to adopt a shadow board due to the current set up of CUOSC and Carlisle United Supporter Groups (CUSG). The Golden Share will ensure fans have veto rights on changes to heritage matters such as club colours, badge and stadium location."

I'm all for better regulation and share of the spoils in footy, however if our experience of fans in the boardroom is a reference to the future, then I would say no way !!

You can have all the reviews and reports you want, the entire problem with football comes down to simply one thing that will never change……..players wages.

Clubs for nearly 30 years now have been throwing frankly every single penny available at agents and players in order to be the best.

Income has gone up and up and up year on year, in the top flight by enormous inflated amounts yet everyone barely scrapes to break even or amounts massive debts and why……….because huge income rises just lead to even larger wages paid.

The top premiership sides should be now reaping in so much income they should be making millions of profit per year, yet all rely on sweeping their debts under carpets or depending on massively wealthy owners.

No one is frankly guilt less the income clubs here get now is massive compared to 90’s yet apart from Accrington we’d all go bust.

It’s ok though the top flight is getting more so they can start paying a million a week, these reviews should see us all able to pay much more in wages also………while still all be one bad move or relegation off going bust.

Regarding players' wages I was listening to Talksport yesterday about Spurs' problems and they were saying how bad Ndombele and Dele Alli were. Their wages are so high they can't even be loaned out! Salary caps will be insisted upon for the lower leagues so the Premier League handouts don't disappear down a black hole but there's still no chance of the EPL curbing its own spending.
