Could be Jake Doyle-Hayes then if Villa are playing. Was on loan at Cambridge back end of the season so already has FL experience. Edited to add he says fairly highly rated at Villa as well

Thought we were signing a midfielder today. Obviously expected too much.

Pressley said Thursday or Friday provided he comes through Wednesday nights match unscathed.

Gilmour is staying with the chelsea first team for the 2nd part of preseason so wouldn't bother getting excited about him coming.

Well, maybe. Clark was rumoured to be going to join his dad at Palmerston. Oli Shaw the 32 from the other night at Hibs is available for loan as well, he'd get his game for us.
I thought the defence played well against Hibs but despite scoring 3 the lads who played centre forward looked poor, Storey and Reeves? I hoped Reeves would be good as well, on paper looks like what we should be signing.
The Arabs are supposed to be trying to ship players out to bring Stevie May in.
Zac Rudden's been carryng an injury so he's still available as well, back in training now.

I think we should be pushing the boat out slightly and bringing in somebody like Clarke who is at least a proven scorer albeit in the Scottish League.

Surely Pressley should be able to get that sorted. Of course it depends on who they are but relying on a couple of young loanees doesn't sound very encouraging.

Kevin Nisbet got 34 goals for Raith last season and has now signed for Dunfermline. He might have been worth a gamble.

I thought we were getting Duffus and a premier midfielder signed up this week. Running it tight for the Penrith game

Aye I thought Duffus would have been announced by now, we were definitely keen, but this was before Hibs game so maybe something has changed or just no rush.

We have a good bit budget left plus McCarron money, go and spend on a player and get the buzz going, get the 5 loans in and should be looking pretty good.

Do you really think they will spend some of the McCarron money and looking like what we get for Hope on a decent striker? They should but I'd be surprised if they do going by their current stand.

I'm really pleased with the recruitment at the club this summer and believe Holdsworth & Pressley deserve a bit of credit.

The squad needed freshening up following the failures of the past three years and we've swept out some of the tired old pro's and breathed fresh life into the team. I also support the fact we're securing our own younger players on longer contracts and are (apparently) giving them more development time in the first team.

Seems to me like we've got a good solid base, cover and variety in defence and if you include Brunt, six genuinely decent options for three midfield places.

Obviously we're a touch light in the final third, but we have Buckley-Ricketts and Reeves on trial (they seem like fair enough trials on paper) and the manager is promising three "exciting" forwards arriving at the club by the middle of next week.

If he's to be believed (and he followed through with the Brunt arrival, so why wouldn't you?) then it's looking like we'll have an extremely competitive first team squad which could do well in Division Four next season. I look around the other recruitment in the division this season and I don't reckon anybody else has recruited as wisely as we have. Depending on the forwards arriving next week I reckon we should easily expect playoffs this season - probably even top three.

There were some genuine bright spots against Hibs, Brannigan (the 16 year old right back) who looks a real find, Christie, Webster, Mellish, Jones and Scougall who was our man of the match for me. But we need something up front. The double-barrelled guy looked lively but that was it, no one was getting on the end of Scougalls wee passes and the 2 centre forwards were poor. Need another 4 in minimum, 2 wingers and 2 strikers

Not forgetting Elliot at right back in the second half, thought he was superb. And I also thought Bridge had something about him.

Thatd be Branthwaite Marko...not Brannigan, but yes he looked useful for his age in with the big boys as did all the defenders on show I thought. Elliott in the 2nd half stood out.
Forwards or more especially strikers wanted now.

Who the hell is Brannigan? Do you mean Braithwaite? Or is misspelling his name a running joke that I missed because I think I've seen 5 versions of his name

I know Pressley keeps saying he's being patient, but it's a little over 2 weeks until the start of the season and we haven't got a striker at the club. Getting a little bit concerning, not going to lie.

Mckirdy is clearly going to be used as a wide player, likewise Hallam Hope (if they don't sell him), the trialist Reeves doesn't look anywhere near up to it.

I don't know what Holdsworth is doing, but he really needs to start pulling his finger out of his rectum and get this sorted.

Money cannot be the issue why no new faces have arrived as we sold McCarron, obviously I don't know how much and I can't believe that they would spend it all but there is no excuses for having no money in the coffers to get them in pronto.

No money will be spent this season apart from what was budgeted .

Thought Gavin said we were getting forward players in early this week, looks like another day gone without anything. Apart from another defender. Whoever comes in is going to take time to settle and that's something were running out of. You would have thought that there would have been a lot more attacking players in on trail.

Well Holdsworth did say that the McCarron money will be used to strengthen the squad.

Looks like we are going to have false, 8,9,10 and 11 currently. I really hope his loans will come in soon but the acquisition of brunt and the one from Stourbridge indicate that no one on his wanted list is coming in. Praying I'm wrong

That is absolutely heartbreaking, feel sick for him.

He needs to look at White who has just went to Blackburn from Gateshead for inspiration.

Think his surname is White anyway, so many names on here!

He is in good hands and glad he got that contract signed so can take his time and get it right.

Huge show of faith that and gives him big motivation to get back stronger.

But it now makes the refusal to offer Devitt a 2 year deal even more ridiculous now that we know they’ll give a 2 year deal to someone facing a year out after already being out for the past year.
