I would have preferred Wright and Murray till the end of the season when Sheridan left.

Many would have gotten their Scottish manager then and lets face it the pair of them could have hardly done any worse than Pressley.

Hopefully they’ve been lined up by Sheridan and we’ll get a bit of compo to help boost our player wage budget.

Tommy Wright's trial is due to start on October 7th only 2 months after the start of the season.

All this talk about us nabbing the best talent from Scotland.

Of late, ironically it has been ourselves that have been plundered as Dicker is one of the best players in Scotland and Devitt looks destined to end up there as well.

They keep a keener eye on us more than we do with them.

Our recent foray was that McKee chap who was and still is shit.

Neil MacFarlane has been his assistant at Falkirk, Coventry, Fleetwood and even worked out in Pafos with him. He then became Kidderminster manager before getting the boot there. Got to be fav to pitch up here...

I thought that was all down to the fact that Kavanagh had given Dicker silly money. Same with Billy Paynter. I doubt it was Keith didn’t rate him, more likely he needed him off the wage bill to make new signings. To be fair to him he did bring in Kennedy, Jones, Ethuhu, Devitt as replacements so not like we were left lacking in that area

Yeah I had heard that Curle needed those two off the books.

It wouldn't have been an issue as such if they were both firing on all cylinders and putting the performances in but they weren't and were unfit and on megabucks.

That era was terrible and I still don't know how we stayed up apart from some heroics like at Burton.

As well as Asamoah, Rigg Probably is an unsung hero that season in the players that were professional, kept their heads down and tried their hardest for the shirt.

We beat someone 2 0 at the end of the season , Dicker and Paynter got the goals. This was after the PFA thing when Curle had them training with the youth team. Remember them looking at the bench rather forcefully. Little did we realise that Jamie Proctor, Cole Stockton and James Bailey would soon be gracing Brunton Park, oh happy days

I quite like the way Pressley is going about things. He's not hanging about with signings and obviously wants his own assistants in. Nowt wrong with that. Good to see the club have backed him on that.

I don't think the setup and quite a few of the players were his cup of tea last season but he had to go along with it. His success or failure will now be down to his own management and that's the way it should be.

I'm quietly optimistic.

I would have preferred to have seen Pressley take over Curles players and get them to perform better like Sheridan did.

Oh - I forgot, he actually did really and totally screwed it up....

He needed a taxi and not a contract, he was nearly sacked weeks previously according to reports.

We all know that is the Utopia of getting rid of the shite and replacing it with quality but it rarely works and at a push takes time to get it together.

I also believed in this philosophy until Kavanagh kicked it out of me.

Our chances of relegation are as remote as our chances of reaching the playoffs were under Pressley. We will start the season on a tight budget but if by January we look in danger then the board will find £500k to throw at the problem to avoid the £900k per season cost of relegation. Only if a club is monumentally mismanaged like Notts County or too small like Yeovil should relegation from League 2 be a threat.

As for what Crunch has alluded too I'm afraid rebuilding the team every six months is sadly what the grand plan for the club seems to be nowadays under the reluctant stewardship.

Think you'll find that's similar for most lower division sides though to be honest. The days of long contracts in the lower divisions are becoming a thing of the past.

Contracts are getting longer aren't they? We used to sign players on monthly contracts or even non contract terms

There is always a risk in signing a player on a two year deal the factors being down to skill, injury, loss of form or even failing to settle in the area.

We are in the same boat as everyone else though so stability is a must in my eyes, because of our location then I would still be looking at long deals if the money is right and not break us.

The worrying part is that Devitt is proven so offering him a on year deal would be an insult.

Its a one year deal with an option isn't it? Which is good for the club surely?

Well he's doing the job he was brought in to do.He put a squad together last year that was no worse than previous seasons on a reduced budget ..
Kennedy released Jones looks to be going their wages will probably cover 3 players this season he has a difficult and thankless task but at the end of day he's been brought in to get value for money from the playing squad and reduce losses by EWM
My anger is aimed at the owners who have no idea how engage with fans and even worse how to cater for football fans or the local community which in turn funds the club..they have no idea how to create money from the product they own and what's even worse they don't even seem to try quite happy for fans to spend money in the rugby club for drinks and food for example..

The problem with these one-year contracts is that in the short term the club isn't held to paying wages for 12-months only compared to signing someone on a two-year deal and who turns out to be shit then spending the latter year of the deal trying to get them off the wage bill but on the other hand if said player turns out to be decent and attracting bids from other teams we're guaranteed to get peanuts for them.

How can the club improve turnover besides an upturn in gates (not likely) or progressing through the cups?
