That’s fine by me. Slater for me was a bit of a nothing player. Decent on the ball, can play simple passes, but doesn’t really affect the games in attack or defensively.

Wasn’t anywhere near the level of Sowerby for us.

Such an odd one this, gets a lot of stick from Aberdeen fans and plenty of sarcastic jokes.. yet can't stop scoring.

Rumour is that not everything working out for Jamie Devitt at Blackpool, seemingly Devitt does not fit in with Simon Graysons preferred style of play. ..His agent is touting around for someone to take him on loan.

I believe we`ve already turned him down.

I did have a notion that could happen. Devitt isn't one of those players who fits neatly into a position.
He became the main man for us eventually, but this wasn't the case in his first season.
He was a very good League 2 player, but is less likely to stand out in L1 imo.

This is a strange scenario.

He said he wanted to stay, Holdsworth said that he said from the beginning that he wanted to leave.

We get the chance to get him back on loan and refuse.

There has to some bull shit somewhere along those claims.

Good point, both Pressley and Holdsworth could not have fancied keeping him if that is the case....

It was said at the forum once they were told he wanted to move on by his agent, the club had to look at other players. They tried again with another offer. It was refused by his agent/him.

The grass isnt always greener as he is finding out. Maybe his agent will offer him back for loan?

Problem with Devitt is The team has to be built around him don’t get me wrong a very good player but can’t fit in anywhere except centre midfield just behind the strikers

I thought scougall had a couple of good games pre season as attacking centre. Northampton fans said Bridge played well when used in that position. I would look to strengthen elsewhere, striker or winger

Fits with what others are saying about Devitt.

Personally I think we need another forward before Devitt. With Scougall or Bridge able to play more prominently if needed.

Interesting that Iredale was put on as a right winger when he signed as a left back!! Indication of where we are short or lacking fitness. We also have Sagaf, Hope and eventually Etuhu to come into the squad.

I see Jerry Yates got a nice goal yesterday. It'll be a tough game next week at Swindon.

Odd really isn't it, he says one thing on the contract negotiations and the club say another.

Then apparently we get the chance to get him back loan and refuse.

He is of proven quality, I would have bitten Blackpools hand off - plus being a Blackpool player he would be wanting to get games to show their manager what he can do to try to get into the team.

He snubbed the club and thought he was bigger and better than us despite his career having peaked at clubs such as Accrington and Morecambe before he came here.

He did alright for us last season and obviously has some quality but he had the opportunity to stay, probably be club captain, earn the highest wage and have the team built around him, he turned that down and we've built a squad in a different way - hard luck I'm afraid. Looking forward to seeing him play for Macclesfield in a year when he's released by Blackpool a year early and hasn't played a game for 16 months

I think aome of the animosity shown towards Devitt is a tad harsh.
Money talks unfortunately and it's not as if these lads earn a fortune.
I'm sure he regrets his move at the moment but this is the nature of the game.

Ive no animosity towards him but if Pressley doesnt think hed have the right squad dynamic with the new players hes brought in then i can certainly see why he doesnt want him back. Especially if hes sure hes getting a loanee striker in this week.

It's a job for Jamie Devitt.

We are skint. Elvis isn't going to blow what little budget he's got on an attacking midfielder when we have 2 or 3. Better to get a decent striker, left back or winger in, positions we need to improve

Unfortunately he went to Blackpool before Grayson came in.....not sure why or how he wouldn't fit into either team....he's pacey...great set piece foot on him ...clever with the ball........just with us the spaces have been filled while hes been gone...most managers want their own players, dont know what he, Grayson has brought in, but for JD to be sidelined to me is madness, plus theyll get injuries as time goes on.

I think the club were being disingenuous when they implied they had offered Devitt a two year option. In John Coleman's article in the EN&S they gave the wording mentioned as to the effect that either side had the option to turn down the second year. So of course there was no guarantee for Devitt that a second year was by any means certain.

Anyway, that's water under the bridge now.

Devitt will go back to where he came from ...Morcambe.
