Was just looking at the Squad announced today for the upcoming games Away in Czech Rep and Bulgaria. It’s the ages of those in the Squad that stands out for me:

Chilwell 22, TAA 20, Gomez 22, Tomori 21, Rice 20, Mount 20, Maddison 22, Sancho 19, Abraham 22.

Then likes of Kane 26, Sterling 24, Maguire 26, Pickford 25, even Rashford at 21 have been in the Squad for years.

Others who’ve missed out this time, the likes of Wan-Bissaka 21, Stones 25, Alli 24, RLC 23 and Hudson-Odoi 18, even our own Henderson at 22 whose time will surely come.

Age group prospects such as Foden, Greenwood, Gomes, Nelson, Saka and probably more I haven’t mentioned.

Really is some set of Players both in and coming through the ranks. Some from the original post haven’t pushed on, but others have come through in their place.

If we don’t win a major Tournament, then some serious questions will need to be asked!

I grew up in the 90s, when we were absolutely spoilt for choice for strikers. Shearer, Cole, Fowler, Sheringham, Owen etc etc. Then in the 00s we were absolutely spoilt for choice for attack minded central midfielders, Gerrard/Lampard/Scholes.... And now it appears to be the case for right back!
