I'm struggling to think of the last match I was at where the average wage of the people in the crowd has higher than that of the footballers they were paying to watch.

Got to say I find this meeting with JN quite fascinating. So he organised a meeting with you to discuss his role away from the club? Why? What has it to do with you? And what has he to gain by discussing it with you? I can't possibly see that he can care what you think?
And at this meeting, he started lying about something that happened in 2006? Why? I simply don't understand why he would do that. It makes no sense at all, and you are dealing with an exceptionally politically aware man as well. How does he even remember?

Do you do a lot of work with agents? My experience is that they behave very like recruitment agents, lose interest very quickly when there is nothing in it for them. Didn't you once get accused of making up evidence in a legal case about agents with Frank Worthington's brother? He sounds an entertaining type

Russ Richardson was hired to set up the video analysis unit I believe, hence why he lives and works in Nottingham. He would have sent a scout to BP to watch Cosgrove. The FA were keen to bring the technology to smaller clubs but some old fashioned managers didn't want it, even with funding. Ho hum

The same reason he contacted all media outlets, he wanted people in Carlisle to be pleased for him attending Wembley, Old Trafford etc, he thought he should be getting more personal exposure, which is fair enough, but I told him this didn’t interest me.

On our side were Martin O’Neil, Ricky Sbragia, the secretary of Bolton who actually give evidence against her employees.

In that sort of situation you come clean when asked questions and try to explain your actions - you don't lie and then try to explain why you were telling porkies as it muddies the water, you lose face and the person you are talking to doesn't believe a word that is coming out of your mouth.

Unfortunately, people in football lie as I've found out recently.

Going over old ground munchy but it showed what type of man he is. As MD the club went under a huge decline.

Obvious he didn't want Lapping's deal to be known. I contacted him(Nixon) via email to say he was lying about there being no interest and the next thing I knew he contacted my boss/owner and threatened him to silence me, not go on radio and if he didn't hed lose my then employer business as he knew people and Carlisle is a small place.

My boss laughed it off, not a football fan at all but did tell me about it. That time near the church i got mad at him as he denied it. However I did get an apology of sort of Kidd/King and then off Nixon personally but a year or so later.

Munchy with Lummys post it shows him as a liar and thankfully has little power now at cufc.

I wasn't the only one that had he's work contacted by him, a good ex poster on here also had the same issue.

You are better off saying that you cannot comment on the situation at worse, or even try the novel approach of telling the truth for a change.

He will be very good at the FA and the role that he does, he was very good apparently at Pioneer, Fred got him in to the club to do a job, and he done it, but what his problem was, was that football isn’t like other businesses, you can’t pull the wool over peoples eyes, as there are agents or football people smarter and more experienced in how football contracts work.

He tried, and failed to hold money back from players that were due to be paid due to wording on contracts. He knew they had a right to it and in the end if would have to be be paid to senior players, but I think some young lads didn’t fight it and took his word. When Simmo was manager he made sure the players were paid.

It was his job to save money and that’s what he wanted to do, but it created a bad atmosphere because of the slyness and lies at times.

I don’t think it’s a secret that the man who brought him in, then left the club to him, would not do it again given the chance.

I am not trying to beat him with a stick, as I said I think what Marko has listed he is very good at, but some of his behaviour whilst working for the club to employees, businesses, supporters, media, will not be forgotten or forgiven. He didn’t give footballers or ex footballers enough credit for how clued up they are on footballing contract matters, and so in turn dug himself some holes which he should have just held his hands up and said “yeah, you have got me there” I would have respected him so much more for that.

The problem with lying is you must remember them, and he didn’t when it came to Frank Lynch, one meeting he was a fraud, the next meeting with me his proposal was better than AL’s.

You can knock a bit off, their gross salary becomes <80K as about 8-9K will be 13.8% employee NI contributions.

Then the club may pay into a pension or summat on the players behalf, knocking down the gross salary a bit further, but I've no idea about that.

To make it even more boring... when we are doing FTE cost projections at our place we include a 30% loading from salary to total cost to cover all the NI / pension / benefits etc etc

So 88k would be more like 66k

Yeah, not well liked, but rarely people are in that role.

But.....it’s the transparency and honesty, which was sadly lacking in him. Then to continue the lie he had to dig deeper, that’s the frustration.

I said to him “John, help yourself, be more open, admit mistakes, and you can try and turn the tide”.

He then began to throw others under the bus and that was it for me.

Off topic, at the ground now. Funny one this tonight, Crewe like to play so do we approach it like them and make it a basketball game end to end, or do we get a bit more steel in midfield and stop them playing and go from there. Absolutely 100% incorrect.

The amount of people who refuse to go back until John Nixon has left the club is staggering. Not Andrew Jenkins, not Steve Pattinson, but John Nixon, his name repeatedly keeps popping up when you ask people if they still go to games. These are people who have been involved in the club in the past, people in local media, people who live in the same village as him, people who have worked for him. Comes across as a decent bloke in person but he’s anything but.

It is Marko's prerogative to have his own view on Nixon of course but there are precious few left who cannot see right through him and that he is of no use to the club whatsoever.

When you are a part owner of a company/club then you can do what you want I guess, it doesn't mean that this approach is welcomed by the paying customers.

Have you got any evidence of that? The committee he sits on is voluntary so nothing there. I have never seen his name on anything else. He could offer to do some work for them but what would he do?

Yeah I’ve got his P60 from last year at home. Of course I haven’t got any evidence but I know for a fact he gets paid by the FA and it’s not an inconsiderable amount.

Don’t be so naive in thinking John Nixon does things for nothing Markovitch. People like him don’t work like that and people within the higher echelons of football don’t work like that either.

Nixon is an EFL representative on the FA Council. He won't get paid for that but he'll get expenses which will be more than generous.

He is on the EFL Board but I don't know if that's a paid position.

Try looking up the price of a first-class return train ticket to Carlisle and a nights stay in a 4 star London Hotel which he is allowed to claim for no questions asked and then look up what you can actually get a ticket for bought 12 weeks in advance and you stay with a " female friend " at her place in London for free and you can see why he'd be so reluctant to give it up.

To be fair though his fellow FA cronies probably all do the same and if Nixon didn't then he would be the odd one out.

We all know that the FA is rotten to the core and partly because of the folk that are involved.

I know somebody who worked as a paid employee at a county FA and you wouldn't believe the NDA he had to sign to be able to get out of his contract with them and to enable his full pension entitlement.

Well that might be about to come to an end in the not too distant future 12 championship clubs owners voted at a meeting yesterday to do everything they can to remove Harvey and his regime and return the day to day management of the FL to the people who own it the clubs and as the odious one has pretty well nailed his colours to Harvey's mast its pretty certain that he.d also be in their sights.
