18/19 - Newport (A) Match Thread

Looks like the Horsemans plans to rip the team up after half a season to ensure another nice comfortable mid-table L2 finish is going well.

I feel like the midfield thing has been obvious for weeks yet Pressley seems to be set on sticking with it. So not sure he’ll change it any time soon, he seems determined for it to work. Scougall and Ohare are similar style to devitt when really we need a Sowerby type.

Since January we’ve been crying out for a bit of help for Etuhu. Jones or Kennedy seem to be the obvious choice. We’d maybe see a bette version of O’Hare if he had that security alongside him.

Somebody will be on shortly saying we'd have took a point of the play offs at this stage at the start of the season.!

We would have bitten anybody's hand off for a point off the play-offs at the begging of the season. LOL

Exeter and FGR get beat ...we win we'd be in 5th

Not ova by a long chalk. He will change midfield next game and Jamie will be back.

Course it has been, plain for everybody to see...Slater is too light weight in there with Ohare...they lack height and strength.... Jones Etuhu and Ohare maybe . JK still lacks pace but he always has...Jones JK and Etuhu would be better...just hope O'Hare hasn't been given assurances he'll play every game

Ok, lets look at the positive since there is already a lot of doom and gloom on here.
We've never ever done anything at Newport
We never get anything on a pudding of a pitch.
We will have Devitt back next week.
3 out of our next 4 games are at home.
We are only 'one' point off the play-offs.
Cullen has got another 90mins under his belt.
Not all doom and gloom just yet, but think we have to start the ball rolling and it needs to happen sooner rather than later.

That's ok then ....just give them a by in future!

I wasn't at the game today so can only go on the radio commentary and it didn't sound great, but I do have some sympathy for Pressley.
We had a similar poor run a few months back when Sheridan was without key players and Sowerby and Yates were played out of position.
We lost to Morecambe, Yeovil and Macclesfield and it was not great.
I think everybody can see that losing those two and Nadesan has punched a hole in us and we look a different side now.
We've had a tough run of 5 games recently, far tougher than the 3 clubs mentioned above, with a lot of new faces.
As others have mentioned where I think you can question Pressley is the balance in the middle of the park.
Not sure if Kennedy can last a game but it must be worth a shot getting Jones in with Etuhu just to stiffen us up a bit in there. We are being overrun at times in there.
Clearly not good enough today and it sounds like we deserved to lose yet despite a poor run we're 1 point off the play offs.
Devitt's back next week and it's another game in the legs for the newer lads.
Every cloud and all that.

I can’t believe Bennett still gets a mention-he was ran out of town by the messageboard and he’s gone.

A bit early to judge Pressley too.We are missing a couple of key players,notably Devitt.Time for cool heads

Agree it is good to look at the positives. Unfortunately, that just got a lot harder after hearing the interview from Pressley.

Seems he saw the game totally different to anyone else.

Lucky we had Sheridan working miracles the first half of the season or they'd probably be getting their wish for Conference football

We've got quite a few tough games to come too, never mind the ones we've had recently.

Sounds like deja vu ... wasn't that last season we kept saying we need to start the ball rolling and it needs to happen sooner than later but it never did

Very even contest apart from the two goals according to the manager.

Aye but we had Curle in charge last season, hoping this season will be different.

So Slater was brilliant according to manager although RC and fans at game seem to disagree. Funny how people see games differently
